African students have been choosing to pursue their education in Russia for decades, particularly in the fields of medicine and engineering. What I know is that after completing their studies, many graduates return to their home countries to work as doctors or surgeons, using their Russian education to secure higher-paying jobs. Few try to find employment in Russia or elsewhere. Although I wasn't aware of the scholarships available, I've heard that one reason students opt for Russia is the favourable cost compared to other countries. Ukraine has also marketed to African students for over a decade and is a popular choice, with a strong recruitment effort, but it still doesn't attract as many students as Russia. Poland might also be a consideration for some. It seems that the only new development is the potential interest of some students in joining the military. Perhaps there are some incentives for that now, but I can't say for sure.

@@annachirkina5671 how would you know.. ? Russians are heavily censored - In the roll call of the thousands of Russian Wagner fighters killed in the ferocious battle for the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut there is an unexpected name. Nemes Tarimo, from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city, died on Oct. 24 last year when his unit in the Wagner private army came under artillery fire in the village of Odradivka, just south of Bakhmut. The stocky, round-faced 32-year-old was “a courageous and able fighter,” his commanding officer wrote in a report on Tarimo’s death. Four years earlier, Tarimo had arrived in Moscow to further his education, filled with ambition, his family said. He enrolled in a Russian language course at Moscow’s Pushkin Institute then transferred to a postgraduate program in IT at the city’s Russian Technological University. “Nemes had big dreams,” said his cousin, Rehema Kigobe, in an interview at the house where Tarimo grew up. In journeying to Russia, Tarimo was following the route of many young Africans, including future heads of state, since the 1960s. Starting in Soviet times, Moscow had opened its arms to African students as a way of courting influence in countries that were just shaking themselves free of Western European colonial rule. Today, some 35,000 African students are enrolled in Russian universities and colleges, the country’s education minister said earlier this year. Tarimo also ended up treading the path of a handful of other Africans who took up arms for Wagner in Ukraine. Reuters has traced the stories of three of these men - Tarimo, a young Zambian man called Lemekani Nyirenda and Komenan Aboya from Ivory Coast. The reporting shows they came to Russia in hope of advancement, fell into crime and were jailed on drug convictions.

The Soviet Union has been accepting students from Africa since the 60s. The ignorance of the western countries are astounding. One of the biggest universities in Russia is named in honor of Patrice Lamumba. The leader of the Congo who was brutal murder was facilitated by the CIA, MI5 and French intelligence. When anyone asks why Africa supports Russia the answer is simple. They know the difference between a friend and a foe.

many of our SAn politicians, politicians and company executives were educated in the Soviet Union from the 60s. Russia knows that it'd grow stronger by welcoming the real descendants of Israelites/Hebrews (Africans). thats what Russia will benefit.

In order for any society to survive, it must be healthy and educated. Russia since the Soviet times has a tradition of hosting international students for education so that they can return to their home countries and put those skills to build their nations. This should not be seen as some suspicious maneuver with nefarious intentions but ahould be welcomed since in the long run it benefits world society as a whole.

Hmmmmmmm, please my African people, please don't travel to Russia, for your own good, it better you stay in your country than traveling to Russia, also for those that are going for job😂😂😂😂, there is no job in Russian, most African living in Russian relocate to Ukraine, Ukraine is 💯 percentage better than Russian for a foreigners, I am writing from experience
