Every school should be doing unit based cross curriculum. Kids would be much more well educated.

We’ve started using this math about half way through this school year and are almost done with level 4. This has been the first math curriculum we’ve used that my son and I both love! His confidence and willingness to do math has increased so much using this program because of the short lessons and lots of hands on activities!

Weeks ago in your live chat, I asked for math curriculum help for a special needs 9th grader who really struggles with math. She was ready to give up on math so I was hoping for a real-world type math book. We ended up getting Denison math, the "success" version of geometry and it's soooooo perfect for her!!

Coming from TGTB. I'm trying to decide between MB and Apologia math. We like color but not crazy busy without too much fluff. Looking for something mastery base but still practices previous concepts. I worry MB doesn't have enough. I don't really want to have to supplement too much.

We've used Math With Confidence for K-2nd, but have never felt like it was a great fit. I purchased Apologia for 3rd, but the more I researched it over the summer, the more I was finding a lot of reviews claiming it left gaps and did not have enough practice to grasp concepts. I'm strongly suspicious these posters may not have been following the Teacher Guide's recommendations for Skills Practice and extra review sheets available online to print, but just don't know for sure if that's the case (when I did ask the parent, most admitted to not doing the skill review). Do you have any thoughts or encouragement on this... is this a good and thorough math curriculum?

We switched back in March to Apologia math for one child, it’s working for him but I know my daughter would not do well with it. What’s very cool, though, is that both curricula have things the other doesn’t, or just emphasizes differently so I’ve utilized pieces of both with both kids.

I love Apologia's math. I am so sad they don't have a Kindergarten level 😩

Math-U-See might work, depending on your child. It's working FANTASTICALLY for us to get one of ours "caught up." Short, quick, to the point. Minimal teacher/parent involvement unless your child requires more. One concept at a time. Nothing distracting (no colors, pictures, stories, etc) if that's an issue, unless manipulatives count as a distraction. (Some children get overwhelmed and/or annoyed by them.) Can supplement with free printable drills worksheets or inexpensive drills workbooks. Also, there are math games GALORE in stores and online, or you could make up your own. And really, if you try something for a few weeks or months and it's just NOT working, you can always try something else. There is no one size fits all to homeschooling! Best of luck 😊

We are trying out BJU Press with our 4 kids this year for Math. I am definitely trying out apolagia, math if bju doesn't work out. I am really excited about bju, so I was wondering what your thoughts are since you said you have tried that out before?

I like BJU. Their math is very traditional and a little dry in my opinion. But it gets the job done and it works.

BOTH 😍 It's topical mastery but they spiral through skills review.

What would you recommend for an older child who is very behind and wants to move forward quickly?

It depends how fast they can go and how quickly they learn. They have to like it. Apologia can work, Dacron with Nicole The Math Lady can also work.

I just found your channel when looking for something related to teaching kids with DS to read. I watched an old video of yours on the So Happy to Learn approach. Wondering how your daughter did with it? My daughter is 9 and has DS, hasn't learned a thing in school to date. I'll be binge watching all your videos this weekend; super helpful, so thank you.

Well shapes. Understanding radius and diameter. No proofs. It’s not high school geometry.
