Thanks for sharing this video really appreciate it . I'm currently using the Sony ZV-E1 . Im looking to get a B cam and wondering if the ZV E10 is a good choice

Thanks for watching! Yeah sounds like you're in a similar boat. I'll be doing more testing shortly so stay tuned. My first impressions are that it's fine... especially if you can get a good deal second hand. I'm not sure I'd buy it new. I mean it'd be nice to have two of the same camera but I can't quite afford another zv-e1. Right now I'm shooting s-log 2 on the e10 and s-log 3 on the e1 so I have to grade them differently. A tiny pain, not a HUGE deal you know?

I like that you're going to be doing b-roll overhead shots, it'll add another dimension to your videos.

Thanks! I'm excited to do it too. I actually just ordered a different setup for that and might return this one... anyway it'll make for some cool shots. Plus I have some really sick tech to review soon. Thanks for the comment 👊

Another great vid. Saw this after comparison to the s21 and osmo. Question: do you think the ZV E10 is good enough for a main vlogging camera?
@thesahdstudio
4 ай бұрын
I do think it's good enough for sure. It doesn't have the greatest stabilization so it depends a bit on what lens you're going to get. If it's going on a tripod it's a no-brainer to use it but if it's going to be handheld a lot... A bit of a tough call. As you saw I got the osmo pocket 3 for vlogging as using hybrid cameras well they're not bad in a pinch that's not what they're built for you know? I do think it's a great value well-rounded camera to start off on. You can't really go wrong for the price.

Looking forward to the new angle! Some quick audio advise that you didn't ask for: There's lots of hard surfaces in your YT studio and as a result, you are getting tons of reverb. If you can, move the boom mic overhead, so it's just out of frame, about 3 inches in front of your forehead, and point it toward your chest, not your mouth. That should allow you to dial down the gain a bit, get a nice full sound, and cut down on some of that room reverb. Good luck!

Hey thanks for the comment. Yeah you know, you can see my mic setup here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/sI6wn4Bjf6xkpqAsi=GXV4KXgV4OrjOGD2&t=96 I DO what you are mentioning however the room is really awful for sound. My desk I think makes it worse, so I'm looking at getting a big felt pad for that which should help... but I think the worst part is, since right now I JUST edit on my laptop and don't use headphones, I can't really hear it. It sounds fine to me on my laptop. I'm in the process of building a workstation with a monitor, I have a sweet Ultimate Hacking Keyboard coming (exciting!), and some speakers (have any suggestions for speakers?) which should help me ensure my audio game is on point. Another commenter gave me a good tip with using the audio isolation feature in Resolve which I've done but that hasn't become muscle memory for me yet when every video. Anyway... cheers man 👊

Thanks for the video, the Zv-e1 definitely looks better but you would expect it too. It wouldn't bug you that the B-roll stuff would look slightly different to main because of the difference in colour tone, sensor, etc.? GoPro 12 actually has 10 bit colour now, and up to 5k at 120fps. So if you got enough light then it's a fairly budget friendly B Camera. Plus it is of course an action cam if you ever decide to include such footage. I'm actually in the process of selling my ZV-E10 to make back some of the money spent on recent upgrades; camera gear man, so expensive 🤮. lol to the hand surf gesture you did in the overhead shot, hey have you also maybe considered a lighter colour desk mat as the contrast perhaps would be more favourable to gear vids. I actually just built a desk recently, found a large oak panel it was like 50 bucks, then some legs from the hardware store; stained and varnished the panel and it looks really good plus it's solid but most importantly, it cost me like $100 AUD all up but it looks like a $500 desk. Options 😎

Interesting question! No I don't think so... I think I'll eventually be able to create quick little luts to make the colours look similar between the two cameras. Good point though. My DJI Pocket 3 I believe has 10 bit colour. I should dust that off lol... and you're right, I do need more light in that space. I've been wondering what light to get next. It's a tough call. My main Godox with the huge soft box doesn't owe me anything. Perhaps I could do something with it. And that's a GREAT idea about the desk mat, good call 👊 I will consider some options there. I've been considering a light grey felt one so that might help not just with the shot but with the echo too. Thanks for the awesome comment!

Your the only one I know which can answer this, does the «wind muff» hairy think from the ZV-e10 fit the Zv-e1?? It looks very simular, trying to find replacement. Thanx❤

How cool! I have the Sony ZV-E10 as my main camera. I was looking for a budget camera that shot good video (and photos too). I’m impressed with it but just have the standard kit lens. Which lens could you recommend for a good, one and done, lens that I could use for KZitem style videos? Thank you very much for your very informative and relevant videos!
@thesahdstudio

Depends on a bit on your budget and style you are looking for. I think the 24mm g Master lens is just so good but it isn't cheap. I think the 20mm lens could be pretty slick too. The sigmas are often better value but the Sony's are nice and small and usually have great built-in stabilization. If you like my style of vids 24 mil is great. I like being within arm's length of the camera which is why I suggested these two lengths. Some people like 35 mil but it's a little too far away from me. Hopefully that helps!

@@thesahdstudio I’m always looking for budget, best bang for the buck, but I also like the idea of one and done, meaning just get what will make me happy and not have to really worry about it in the future or second guess myself. I do like the style of your videos, so I will keep the Sony 24mm G in mind and budget for that.

what i'm really hoping for is for someone to make an autofocus 24mm 1.2. can you imagine the bokeh on that?

The E10 is only 8bit though and has quite a dated processor so no fancy auto focus and older colour science, did you find that to be an issue at all? - I have the same issue with the elgato flexi arm, it just wobbles too much, even attached to a solid desk, I'm going to try attaching it to a tripod instead.
@thesahdstudio
6 ай бұрын
Yes thanks for the reminder about the 8-Bit! I was going to mention a few things lik that but I figured I'll talk about it more in detail in the next video. Instead of shooting in s log 3 I'm using s log 2 as I heard that's better for 8-bit... I'll play around with it more soon. But the autofocus seemed great and the color science right out of s log was pretty decent! It's fun though to have as a second angle so I'm happy enough! Yeah I'm thinking I'm going to return the flexi arm and maybe just get a separate stand with a boom arm as the flexi isn't that long either. It is nice when everything clips on to a desk though.

Nice! It seems like a great little camera. I really haven't spent much time with it yet but I'm looking forward to it. And to be honest, I'm a bit jealous... I'd love to get myself an iPhone but my old Samsung S21 still works just great. Not to mention I still have the original Galaxy Watch which lasts almost a whole week still also. I hate spending money when I don't HAVE to. Part of me wants my phone to die but phones are SO expensive so a bigger part of me hopes it doesn't 🤣
