As a postie who walks 12 miles a day the key to keeping your feet from killing you are insoles. Not shoes or socks but insoles. Proper walking/hiking insoles. they will save you so much pain. My current faves are Sorbothane Cush N Step. Can be had for less than £12! But awesome effort here guys, that has taken some guts.

postie here too. 46 miles is insane. but yeah shoes are key, hiking shoes are not great when walking on the pavement and they're too heavy. you can get insole liners too. Keep the weight off your legs and on your body.

That was great to watch. The Thames path is excellent for long distance walking. The weather of course plays a huge part and I think you guys did really well. Never mind the distance, walking for 24 hours is a massive challenge. Coincidentally, my record length walk along the Thames was 75km. It was a sunny summer day and it took me around 14 hours. Keep the whacky challenges coming! 😄

Well, you've reminded me of the "Pontevedrada" (I guess it's a bit of a mouthful for an English speaker). It's just a walk along the Portuguese variant of the Way of St. James (you know, the Camino de Santiago, only it's not the usual French variant or any other but the Portuguese one). It's not the whole Portuguese way but from Pontevedra city, just 67 kilometers, about 41,6 miles. The particular thing about this walk is that is done all in one take, beginning on a Saturday evening at 20:00 and they get there when they get there, about lunch time on Sunday, some 17-18 hours later. It's like a popular race only it's not a race, it's a walk, and mind you, what a walk, since the "Camino de Santiago portugués" passes trhough all kind of places and some are not very well lit, or not at all, there are very narrow paths among vinyards, medieval bridges, the whole lot. From what I see, the English part of the Way is from Reading Abbey to Southampton, some 68,5 miles, hummm?

When doing long distance backpacking (AT, PCT etc) I could walk around 4 miles per hour indefinitely on easy terrain with a 15 pound backpack.
