All you need to research is the starting salary of the average doctor in the US and then you don't need to think about debt anymore. Doctors make bank off the expensive US health system. Most of them payoff $500k in debt in 2-3 years

I would think you are clueless, if you said to me your future salary was 100k and your debt would be 250k. As someone who used to work in biomedical research, he is in for a rude awakening when he realizes they dont get paid 50k let alone 100k. My first job out of college was a biomedical lab that focused on cancer research. We got paid 14 dollars an hour. I got paid 18 dollars an hour because I was a research lead. Unsurprisingly, I no longer work in cancer research and now get 75k and 5 weeks PTO working in television. Research guys. STEM careers arent as lucrative as people make them out to be

I think he misspoke. He’s going to medical school to become a doctor. He’s not only getting a bachelor’s degree. Starting salary for a doctor is like 250K, and that’s in the easiest fields, without much specialization or surgery. For specialized surgery, the pay can easily be 600K to well over 1M per year.

Here in the UK the tuition fee for any degree is circa $11k per year irrespective of the university. My son just graduated from medical school after 5 years and his total tuition debt is $55k. Sixteen states in Germany abolished tuition fees in 2014 for domestic and foreign students!

You need to nail your MCAT (incredibly difficult exam) and you need to have lots of research and/or clinical experience.

When i was in college, I was struggling just to find food. Meanwhile, this rich White kid was struggling to decide which Mercedes Benz car to purchase. That same kid was nothing but a cheat. He belonged to a frat, so he had the tests before test day. He would just memorize the questions and answers. I didn't know what was takimg place until the final exam. He asked me why I was studying. I said for finals. He told me to stop wasting time and look at what he was holding. It was a test, so I looked it over, but I did not know it was going to be the same thing on my final. Exact same questions, exact same order. I got a 98% on that test, lol. That kid prevented me from failing.

If you are getting a bachelor of science in biomedical sciences, you are not getting a hundred thousand dollars to start. Even when you come out with a medical degree, you are probably not making anywhere near $100k during the first year of your initial residency. It's a tradeoff. Academic pressure to succeed has a lot of draw backs such as its impact on mental health, but it's at least part of the reasons various Asian countries have developed economically as much as they have, including India. Other places have that pressure too. When more people have higher paying jobs, the increased spending grows the economy and raises living standards

Me already finishing my college years soon... No debt baby!! That's how we work here..and I'm glad, student don't need to loan for their college tuition and stuff because Parents mostly provide for their kids. Until they graduated and find a job... And when that kid Now received their salaries... They have something to return to their parents... And plus they don't need to worry paying the debt.

7 years after college and I’m still paying down my loans. Most people who graduate debt free come from rich households. Even if you had your entire tuition paid for, you need to pay for room and board, travel, food and other expenses across the year.

I did 3 years of a BA, in the UK, finished with 19k debt. 11 years after graduation it current stands at just over 20k because of interest. I get money taken from my pay every month to pay it but its on average under 100 pm
