Yeah departments in us started getting rid of them because there’s just no room in the trunk. They’d rather have Explorers and Tahoe where the space is much better. Lots of departments at least around me still use this as a detective though, they reassign it. Although I know some cities that still have them active. Probably my favorite police car ever! I once drove a fully loaded '16 MKZ AWD with the 3.7 and it was hands-down the best driving experience I've ever had in any car; even better than an Audi R8 I drove. Silky smooth, quiet ride, responsive handling, fast, and the Duratec's wonderful throaty growl and free revving nature. The paddle shifters in the MKZ take it to another level in driving engagement. Too bad though the water pump is internal and are known to leak...

I have the same exacts configuration taurus , love the car but the whole time owning it, i keep kicking myself asking "why didnt i get the explorer?" the explorer is basically the same car underneath and even in the interior but with way more room and its even shorter than the taurus, if I ever get around to it im going to get an explorer interceptor with the ecoboost, I always loved the was my taurus looks, but its always felt pretty cramped for a fullsize car, especially compared to the police sedans it was competing with when it came out, even my family's altima and optima felt about the same maybe even rommier and those are classified as midsize cars, when i first got mine it still had the partion in and as a 5'10" average weight dude i removed that thing the first week i got it,thats how cramped it was. I could only imagine if someone way fatter or taller than me had to spend a whole shift in their how tigh it would be, but hey an upside is you feel like your more part of the car when your driving it as upposed to just sitting on or in the car, cars been dead reliable, won it at an auction for 4500 with 65k and you sure do get alot of bang for your buck, nows the time to get one while you can as theyve been discontinued since 2019 and many fleets even small towns are getting rid of them, even ones with low miles and non-patrol/admin use and replacing them with newer options/cars that are still in production. Parts are easy to come by becuase it basically shares all of its parts with the explorer of the same generation.Good thing about the ford police package vehicles that their civilian counterparts dont have, is they have addtional rear bracing in the trunk area that allows them to survive 75mph rear impacts from a stop, so these cars are also very safe, especially combined with the full time awd which allows you not worry about sliding out or going a little bit offroad.
