I set up we chat and alipay without a Chinese number, just linked a credit card through our local Serbian phone number (but I haven't completed the complete authorization for the offered limit, I don't think I need it for a tourist visit). Also we don't need a Chinese visa, and two mobile Chinese operators allow us to use mobile internet without a Chinese e-SIM card.

I have to be honest here. In every (other) country I've traveled to, I've used ApplePay on my phone and never had an issue. I don't go out with a wallet. It's the same and maybe even quicker. Also it's almost impossible to link a foreign card to WeChat/ Alipay. If other countries removed the cash option like China did, they would be the same.

What if you don't have alipay, WeChat pay? Or you just want to use cash?
@lex-1108
2 ай бұрын
You can always use cash, it's required for all stores to accept cash. Most shops have change available, but using cash at small vendors might be inconvenient since they may not have change ready. Therefore, it’s often easier for you to use mobile payments.

every store has to accept cash payment, but it‘s not that convenient like using online paying. But I think credit card acts the same way and its only drawback is not all bills available in time to check on your online bank, coz monthly bills usually.

0:09 You are wrong. Do your research first. China is not a completely cashless country. Convenience and safe? The answer is yes. Chinese law requires all businesses to accept cash. Whether the stores or vendors are able to give you back exact change is another story.
@AleeseLightyear
2 ай бұрын
I never said that cash isn't accepted. I didn't say that China is completely cashless. WHAT I said is: "MAYBE you have HEARD that China is completely cashless...." There is a difference.
