Sid Meier's Civilization (the 1991 game) taught me English. There's a lot of relatively short snippets of text in the game and my parents wouldn't let me play unless I translated it all. That got me to a level where I could read novels in English for fun and that's a really good spot to be in on your language learning journey.

What about games that DON'T help you learn? More on that here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/uI-ik6KQsqF2i6g

I use to love playing Reader Rabbit and The ClueFinders as a kid, I think I did a lot better in school because of it, too bad The Learning Company went bankrupt

I think you should change the thumbnail of this video and maybe add Call of duty on it. It'll gain more views. The video is far more interesting than the present thumbnail.

My favorite is probably The ABCs of How We Learn: 26 Scientifically Proven Approaches, How They Work, and When to Use Them. It's got a lot of good info, it's accessibly written, and gives you good information about the limits of each approach. Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning is also a good option. Been a while since I read it, though. Making Learning Whole also has some fantastic insights. Understanding How We Learn: A Visual Guide also might helpful. I haven't read it all the way through, but I liked what I saw when browsing through it. If you wanted more from the deliberate practice literature, I would go with Peak: Secrets from the New Science of Expertise. Drawing on a somewhat different line of research literature, but overlapping a chapter or two with the ABCs of How We Learn. There are other more academic books, but this should get you started. Hope you enjoy and happy holidays!
