ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: How Goat Milk Is Good For Dogs
So What Makes Goat Milk For Dogs The Better Choice?
Many recent studies show that goat milk to be less allergenic than just about every other milk available and more easily digested.
Goat milk contains far less casein than cow's milk, a known cause of allergic reactions.
Goat milk is more easily digested with smaller fat globules and a higher concentration of medium chain fatty acids making it far quicker to digest than cow's milk. It's rich in vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, trace elements, enzymes, protein and fatty acids.
Raw goats milk makes a great addition to your dogs diet with easily digested probiotics that can help with diabetes, improving digestion, leaky gut, IBD and liver disease.
You can use goats milk to ferment with kefir grains, now popular in the US and the UK. This creates a large number of beneficial strains of bacteria in the fermented milk, which you can feed your dog to keep their gut healthy.
Try and purchase raw un-pasteurized goats milk for better more healthy nutrition with the resulting probiotics less likely to be destroyed by hydrochloric acid and bile salts in your dogs digestive tract.
And I'll leave a link to another video in the description below all about the benefits of kefir for dogs.
Like all milks, it depends on how the animal is raised as to the quality of the produce. Goats that are pastured and grass fed in a low stress environment, free of antibiotics and GMO feeds will produce the best quality milk. Pasteurizing the milk will lessen its nutritional value.
Giving your dog a raw fermented milk, especially from kefir, will provide a rich source of live bacteria probiotics, enzymes, essential fatty acids, vitamins, trace minerals and antioxidants.
I recommend giving the following amounts per day:
• ¼ for small dogs
• ½ for medium dogs
• ¾ for large dogs
Begin with smaller servings then work up to the quantities above.
Check your local health food store or your supermarket for kefir and raw goats milk.
And while raw goat milk is ideal, you can still use organic, grass fed, pasteurized cow's milk to make kefir as I do at home. It's delicious, super healthy for gut health issues and my dog loves it, yours will too.
