Emberiza godlewskii
The size of an ordinary oatmeal, longer-tailed. The male has a characteristic coloration: gray head and front of the body, chestnut and black stripes on the head. The female is colored the same way, but more dimly, there are dark mottling on the throat. In autumn attire, the colors on the cover plumage are slightly muted with ochre and brown edges. The young are even duller, more mottled. Previously, it was considered a subspecies of mountain bunting, which it is very similar to, differs in a darker gray background color of the head and chestnut (not black) stripes on the head. Weight 19-30 g, length 16-19, wing 7.4-9.1, span approx. 22-28 cm.
Distribution
Godlevsky's bunting is occasionally found on wintering grounds in the mountains of Eastern and Southeastern Kazakhstan. It is possible that it nests in the Central Tien Shan. For more information on distribution in Kazakhstan, see the Subspecies section.
Biology
Godlevsky's bunting in Kazakhstan is a rare wintering bird and probably a very rare breeding bird. There is no data on the biology of this species from the borders of Kazakhstan.
