"Everyone says we're afraid of the unknown, but I'm most afraid when I think I *do* know." -- yes, this, this this! That's is the Socratic paradox of wisdom: Socrates was wise because he understood that he was NOT wise. Or as the Daodejing puts it in chapter 71: "Knowing that one does not know is the best knowing. / Not knowing that one does not know is sickness. / Only by knowing sickness as sickness can one overcome it." As for this sickness, this unhealthy grasping for control via knowledge (which is usually actually "doxa" in the Greek sense of "opinion"), this is what lies at the root of so many of the world's ills today, as illustrated in the Indian parable of the blind men and the elephant. Epistemological humility is something all of us so desperately need. As Issa's wrote: "Simply trust: / Do not also the petals flutter down, / Just like that?" The opposite of trust in this sense is fear -- and which gives rise to the (futile) attempt to control events, which is connected, of course, to the desire for certitude. (Also: that Donald Richie book on Japanese aesthetics is a lovely little book - so nice to see it brought up here)

Thank you so much Wiédergeburt, that's such a lovely feedback 😊 I'm just not so sure what kind of content to focus on, I'm still a bit missing creative input...as this channel wasn't to focus purely on Taoism, but most subs are coming from that video which is leaving me a bit thinking where to go
