Chris Stapleton is a masterpiece; he's very unique, he's blues & very soulful

I am 62 years "young" and, IMHO, Chris Stapleton cannot be pigeonholed into any one genre. When I hear him, I hear what we used to call "Southern Rock." A little Marshall Tucker Band, A little Gregg Allman (R.I.P), etc.. and when I was a teenager in NYC I was a HUGE Southern Rock fan. All Chris does is he sprinkles in some soul and blues. Just as Gregg Allman did. Check out Chris's cover of "Whipping Post", written by Gregg Allman. It will blow your hair back, not to mention James Brown's "This Is A Man's World." Chris is a gift from God.

I'm a rock guy and after listening to this song, I realized, this is the direction rock should have went to survive. Rock is almost dead. Country music is evolving because it's embracing guys like Chris who are incorporating soul and blues into the genre. Todays rock is soooo bad. Get back to the blues!

And it's about time. Hip hop and rap has ran it's course in country. I am over "snap track and clap track country" and rap collaboration. Chris can own more genres than any other singer in my life time... Rock started fading hard in the early mid 2000's. Unless you shun mainstream, then you can find it.👍

He mentioned in an interview that he listened to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog growing up. Said the music was so real that it translated even to some kid in Eastern Kentucky even though he had no notion of the things they were talking about. Any genre of music can influence as long as it’s real!! Facts. ❤ 😊

Chris Stapleton is a Music God, in my book, so the more of his songs you react to, the better. I won't really be satisfied until you've done every available one. People always talk about his voice, but it's not just his voice -- it's the choices he makes in what to do with it. For me, every single choice he makes is perfection, whether it's when to growl and when not to, his choices regarding dynamics, when he drops the end of a sentence in favor of coming in and finishing the sentence with the guitar...etc. Every choice is dictated by the music and its meaning (and never, as with many artists, by ego, fad or other such considerations) and his authenticity and taste are, for me, 100%. Loved your reaction, too-- and seeing his effect on you in your face as well as your comments-- and the graphics update is fan-freakin'-tastic! Thanks for another great, honest and heartfelt reaction.
