Great video, thank you. I appreciate the style and the detail. I've been experimenting with filming my runs with different mounts. I've got an action cam and have just purchased the Osmo rival, the FIMI Palm. The frustration you express in your experimentation has been noted. At least know that you've saved me a heap of false starts! I'm going to start uploading soon so I hope you'll see the improvement from the (possibly dire) action cam to the gimbal. Also, that was the Aviator and Frimley Lodge parkrun, right?! 😋 Muddy one, that.

Instead of mounting the camera straight (90 degree), you could mount it 45 degree tilted that way some of the jumping movements are reduced. I tried this while mounting it on my motorcycle and walking videos.

I’m sure the haze on the lens is just a side effect of living in a humid climate. The same thing happens for me with any lens in certain conditions. Body heat makes it worse in cool humid climates. It’s condensation. Gets on tents, sleeping bags, etc. I presume a cool rain in warm climates cause it too.

Running with a gopro 9 mounted in the same way I found that if there are tree branches and leaves against the background of the sky, like when running through a thick part of the forest, the video becomes very noisy I think because of the software trying to stabilize those details, I use Gopro with a max lens mod, but still I have not been able to fix this issue. Did you find the dji pocket having the same issues in that scenario?

Thanks, I think I've found the one you mean - pistol grip type thing? It looks too cumbersome to chest mount, though I'd be curious to test it out. Tbh, the vertical movement doesn't bother me at all, my main concerns at the moment are the shock/vibration when going downhill and the wobble bug.

Thanks for the info, I'm sure it will help me ... I just started using dji osmo pocket while flying my paraglider, I have one more requirement than you have : security. My glider's line should never get around the osmo because it could kill me. So the placement is not easy, I'll definitely have to try the chest mount and opt for tilt lock mode. @@RobBlight Almost everything, don't like having to keep taping to focus, hard to tell if It's in focus on such a small screen, the gimbal never holds the horizon level, pain in the arse accessory mount to attach a tripod, I think the one x and hero 7 black have far better stablization
@RobBlight
5 жыл бұрын
@@stevemoore999 I can't disagree with most of your points. I guess it depends what you're using it for - I can't imagine using a GoPro to vlog, but the Osmo Pocket does a nice job. I have my doubts that the Hero 7 Black would produce nice (chest mounted) running footage, especially in 4K.
@stevemoore999
5 жыл бұрын
@@RobBlight I don't vlog, I use my cameras for holidays and family days out etc. The pocket is terrible whilst running, the gimbal just cannot handle it and because theres no 4th axis, the up and down bobbing movement is really bad. I have all 3 cameras. the camera to get the most fun out of is the one x. The camera that does everything...That includes going in the swimming pool (Something you cannot do with the pocket yet) is the Hero 7 black. When I bought the pocket in mid December, I was so hyped up thinking wow, a camera this small with a gimbal, It's gonna be awesome, it was such a let down, It's been in the drawer since January. Oh and for vlogging, I think the one x is better, no need to point and shoot. The other thing I don't like on the pocket is the narrow FOV. Bottom line, if I break the one x or the gopro, I would go out and buy another straight away, if I break the pocket I wouldn't.

*Pro’s:Super compact and easy to use **allmy.tips/DJICam** and most importantly pocketablePeople don't notice you're filming, being so smallCons:Focus is a little untrustworthy, and i have had my photos come out out of focus. I always make sure to shoot a little video at the same time as the focus seems to work better in that mode. You could always tap the screen to force the focus, but being such a small screen there’s no way to know if it has focused well.This is not as durable as the go-pro but being aimed at a completely different market is very good at what it does.The dynamic range could be better but being such a small device, the performance is quite admirable.*
