I for one am excited. As a viewer of just the show, I think they really can tell a good story (prequel) to game of thrones. I'm excited for the series! Hopeful!

I didn’t care for it. Lack of interest in any of the characters honestly. Character development is what draws me in. GoT had so many great characters. I wanted to be interested, but, wasn’t at all. I was so bummed because I was looking forward to it.

to be fair, its the pilot episode. you shouldn't expect character development in the very first episode; that comes with age and there will be plenty of episodes in the future. GoT wasn't really interesting from the very beginning, it began to become itself midway through the first season so we really should be giving this one a chance. personally, all the characters in the house of the dragon are being set up for an amazing arc. hence, judging them while they are in the process of becoming themselves is pretty unfair-

@@rafidneedshelp2590 not to me. I have a different way of relating to people in general due to being higher on the spectrum. I gravitate to certain characters from the jump. So, to say I shouldn’t expect to be interested, you are kinda assuming. I was incredibly interested in the GoT actors from the first episode, just none of the current ones in House of the Dragons.

@@TheLisaGate well thats incredibly central and specific to you and i respect it. though thats how the graph of character development actually works for me though. its dormant at the beginning then gradually grows up thats when things take a turn and the series explodes with interest. but hey to each their own.

@@rafidneedshelp2590 to me, it’s going to be hard to beat the brief looks Tormond gave to Brienne and how he made her so uncomfortable. 😂 I will watch a few more episodes to see if I catch anything that I may gravitate to. I do love watching the body language of the characters. It just seems so stiff at the moment. However, Daemon was really the only actor that stood out to me as really physically flowing with his character. I’m hyper analytical. Haha. I wish I wasn’t. But yes, to each their own. 😊

That's fair. I'm not sure if you've read Fire and Blood and maybe I get things that people who only see the show don't. I would blame pace for that lack of connection with the characters. I think GoT took its time introducing characters while HotD was too fast. I don't think it was a perfect beginning by all means.

I had a healthy amount of trepidation going into this I think. I've read "Fire & Blood", and before that, the trilogy of novellas, "The Princess and the Queen", "The Rogue Prince", and "Sons of the Dragon". All great reads. I hope they still have surprises, though, for live action. As long as it doesn't compromise these stories. I think that line from Viserys filled that role, which blew my mind and re-contextualizes some of GoT and the novels. The Dance of Dragons era of Westeros has a beginning, middle and end -- something sorely lacking from adapting "A Song of Ice and Fire". While "Blood & Fire" has little dialogue, and it isn't eye witness accounts and merely a history lesson with blurred truths and no doubt exaggerations... I am very optimistic after seeing the first episode of House of the Dragon. If it was a chess board, the first episode set many of the pieces. I really liked your video, so liked and subbed! Please continue making content! :)

I was hesitant at first to get into the hype but that last extended trailer made me give in. Also, it's a story we know the end to (although the narrators are often unreliable) unlike GOT so that in itself allowed me to get hyped. I'm hopeful for this show despite the things I mentioned in the vid. Glad to know you enjoyed 💜

@@raerants I'm expecting the tragedy and heartbreak this time. I was shocked so many times during GoT's run. As soon as it ended I finally read the books. I wish I didn't read Fire & Blood because I feel like I've spoiled some outcomes for myself. But they've managed to shock and surprise me already. Enjoy the episode tonight!
