For me, in my "specific" rules of ranking the greatest ones, Hakeem is the best center to ever play this game. His game was complete in all terms of basketball and with no doubt, he would be a 3 point shooter in later days. He won 2 championship not on his own, but without second superstar, how many players can say that besides him and Dirk Nowitzki? Jordan had Pippen, Magic with Kareem, Shaq and Kobe etc. etc. He's one of the best defensive players ever and not just because he was a center with big wingspan. He just had "it". Also his footwork was phenomenal.

Hakeem is clearly the fifth best center of all time, after Kareem, Russell, Shaq and Wilt. By the way, as a Spaniard, I would love to see a 'How Good Was Pau Gasol'. In Spain he is seen as a basketball god, and I feel he was a very recognisable player at the time, but I've always been curious about how great he is considered in the NBA (I always look at him through biased eyes), and what's his place in the all-time power fowards list.

I've always said this on videos on hakeem. he gets disrespected constantly. He was better than shaq in every way. It's just that shaq was more impactful but not skillswise. The dream was what today's centers, "TRY" to be... Hakeem shot 3's, was a beast on the defensive end and the boards. His inside game had moves, that would make any of the centers today blush in embarrassment. No way people should put shaq ahead of hakeem but they do, because shaq had more rings.

Good job with the video. You could have mentioned how the rockets beat the Phoenix Suns down 3-1 in 94-95... they also did it in 93-94. Hakeem was a beast in those 2 seasons.

When people say center is the hardest position to compare it’s true. Some people have Hakeem #1 some have him somewhere in the top 5 while others say he’s only top 10 and depending how you look at it there’s a case for every spot. Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, and Bill Russell are all top of the list guys with Hakeem while other people say Moses Malone, David Robinson, and Patrick Ewing are up there as well. And depending how you think about Tim Duncan as a pf or center, or also whether you believe Dwight has done enough to get consideration. It’s definitely the hardest position to rank the greats.

The number of fast break buckets this guy created with his defense is immeasurable.. He rarely blocked a shot out of bounds.. He was a really good rebounder, and a great outlet passer.. And it was never surprising to see him finish as the trailer at the other end.. Those Rockets teams would just flat run you out of the gym..

Hakeem was better than lebron. Lebron will have better numbers. Lebron will have better numbers than almost anybody by the time he retires but that doesn't matter. Anyone can play for numbers. I watched both play. Second favorite player behind Jordan.

His incredible journey and legend started while he was still a sophomore for the Houston Cougars. He was able to held his own against the raining and future 3X MVP Moses Malone! Cameras were there to catch his rise to stardom in Fonde Recreation Center. After that, Hakeem Olajuwon became one of the NBA greats.

I honestly would rank Hakeem as the 2nd best player in history. The best center by far. He did it all. He would shut down big men, switch off and guard perimeter players, block shots (most all time), slam it over your big man, fade away, he would dream shake and make everybody look outright silly, and he had a good jump shot and free throw percentage. Most underrated player of all time.

Hakeem was like MJ in the center position. His skill sets were sooooo ahead of its era that he could still dominate in modern NBA. He could shoot he could dribble and his dream steps would confuse all kind of defenders.
