Damn, you missed his best years. He was leaving his prime right about that time in 07-08. There's a reason his nickname was "The Truth" though. Paul Pierce could absolutely ball. Guy was never a "high-flyer" but he used to get up a lot when he was younger. Athletic, could shoot midrange and deep, savvy ballhandler, could attack the basket, played great D. People don't remember his earlier years too much and that's a real shame. That's when he earned his nickname. Pierce had that dog in him.

Those who think he was a bum, Lebron James always says that Pierce and the Celtics are his greatest rivals. Celtics vs Lebron have always been some of the greatest games ever. If Celtics never gate-kept Lebron on the Cavs from the finals, he would have never went to Miami and even when he was in Miami the Celtics vs Heat series in 2012 was one of the best series I’ve ever seen thanks to Pierce and Rondo vs Lebron

It's a shame that instead of praising Pierce for empowering the Celtics' glorious franchise and cementing himself among its greats, because there are so many great Celtics players over the years with more accolades, such as Cowens, Russell, Cousy,Havlicek,Bird, McHale(who is underrated), Parish etc. he is sooooooooooo overlooked, especially by non Celtics fans. Also, even those who congratulate him for his ring, who aren't many, I despise the fact that they forget how the ring was just the cherry on top in his career and what he provided Boston over 15+ years. Many think this is one of very few historic moments even though Pierce has had countless. Finally, why are people forgetting that Pierce is the only player to lead a team past both prime Kobe and prime LeBron while also doing solid as their primary defender and successfully trading buckets with them?

“Selfish 1 on 5 basketball” 🤦🏽♂️. That season everyone was giving him props for his maturity on & off the court, getting the young guys involved & all that

Yeah cant even pronounce "Battie" right 😂 Paul became a better all around player during those rebuilding, he was even letting young guys take clutch shots in crunch time but I hated them for tanking, I saw a ton of the games when they were only down 10 or even 8 but they'll bury Pierce at the bench in the 4th to intentionally lose 😂 it all worked out as they won in 08 but 05-07 was hard to watch, but will always remember young dudes like Al Jeff, Ryan gomes, delonte, rajon, perk, T.A.

Before becoming fully invested in the NBA 7yr old me rlly thought Paul Pierce was the goat of basketball even better than MJ because his singlet was worn by almost everybody in New Zealand. around 2008-2009 NTL he's still very good n wish I could have experienced his games live on TV 🐐

I grew up in Denver when the Nuggets were HORRIBLE. Paul Pierce came to town and put on the best show I've ever seen in basketball.

20 secs in and while i agree up until 2015 paul pierce was lebrons greatest rival but 2015 started the lebron vs curry era and that rivalry is unmatched in this generation

It's okay. It makes it easier to spot the newbies to the sport or just idiots that don't know their history. Every thing he says he has credibility to do so. And his history is proof enough. Real ones know.

It dont matter to him, he made history, he's a champ, hof, top 75, no. 34 retired in boston. Casuals means nothing to him, they can hate all they want. 2000s era fans knew him well, the coaches and players he went up against knows.
