I often show this video as an example for „vision with bad timing“ and „technology without vision“. First in reference to the „blueprint for the decade“ initiative at apple around the 80/90ties which were driven by John scully and not Steve Jobs! Second as a reference to today (or the last decade) because we do have all the components of such a knowledge navigator / but nobody has the vision to integrate them really nicely.

I worked at Apple as a Product Manager when this video was first shared with employees at an Apple retreat in Hawaii. Nice to see people looking back at Apple's vision.

Must be exciting to be working on creating cool projects. Or at least that is my perception from an outsider.

not sure if it was a "prediction". it seemed more like a "threat". For example, there's nothing I love more than slder phones with full keyboards, and few used car dealers, lawyers, or politicians would be brazen enough to get up on their soapboxes and try to verbally pry it from my fingers in favor of glass touching like he did. Proud to say he failed at that, as keyboard phones are experiencing a bit of a resurgence as this next generation of marketing Nostradamuses continue trying to brainwash me out of what I actually want. Keyboard phones are just one example. Just look at Steve and his pal Larry Ellison try to take my whole computer away for a cloud computer appliance. Cloud computing will never succeed unless someone does some dirty business to force it. I just can't believe the gall of these antidemocratic types like Steve Jobs to pretend to be so smart when they're really just trying to force it through. Viva la libre software, viva la expandability cards, viva la internet privacy, viva la user repairability, viva la AI-less oldschool keyword search.
