I'm not going to over-embellish T Mac's career but his talent and skill on the court deserved to be rewarded. The only reason the Magic were able to make the playoffs for 3 out of the 4 seasons he was there was pretty much because of him and it's a real shame his career fell off so quickly after those first few years in Houston and the injuries began to significantly affect him

If Yao was healthy in 2009 Rockets would’ve won the title. They took a Lakers team that would go on easily to win the Finals to 7 games, without T-Mac and without Yao for 4 games. Bynum was getting exposed by Yao and they couldn’t even play him that much because of it.
@nahor88
5 жыл бұрын
That Rockets team when healthy was THE best team in the league. Even after Yao went down, Aaron fucking Brooks went off and they won game 6 in Htown. They got waxed in game 7 back in LA, but with a healthy Yao and Tmac, I think they win that series in 5 or 6. Kobe got his, but there really wasn't too much else to that Lakers squad. They went on to destroy Denver in the WCF. Yao in today's NBA would be even more effective, like Marc Gasol on steroids. He was a good shooter, and was capable of hitting 3s. He wasn't that athletic, but was a solid defender and had footwork to rival the Dream. I can imagine how god like him running the pick-and-roll with Harden and CP3 would be today.

Well the reason the team never achieved much was mostly due to the fact that the injuries kept pilling up. Anytime they had a great team, they either got injured or TMAC couldnt perform. The Injuries were frustrating to watch growing up because anytime we looked like we had a chance, Yao would break his foot, or Tracy would practically fall apart.

in 07 in particular 2 events cost them a chance at the west finals, trading rudy gay and stromile swift for shane battier hurt their depth imo and then losing bonzi wells so early on hurt their bench...they were a top 3 defense holding teams to 92 ppg but what they didnt have was bench scoring...a lot of their bench scoring came from guys playing heavy minutes due to yao ming missing 34 games that season and t mac missing 11...they really had no bench once bonzi got hurt...their scorers were alston t mac ming battier juwan and a bunch of trash on the team...sure battier made them so good on defense but they lost bonzi so they needed gay and swifts depth sicne both were starter quality..oh well..

To be fair. the rockets never had a PG. Which forced McGrady to do waaaaay too much. Too much scoring, facilitating, rebounding. That offense was predicated around TMac. And once you realized that the Rockets became very very suspect. Never had a real PG to feed Yao in that post. Which would have taken so much pressure off Tmac.
@christopherblake2588
5 жыл бұрын
JUAN ENRIQUE ESCOBER that was a constant theme that the PG’s were too young and not tall enough to give Yao a proper entry pass. They were good scoring guards, but that’s also why Rafer didn’t last in Orlando. Aaron was a gunner and Lowry was just too young. PG fundamentals we’re really lacking on that team and in the league in general. There’s a reason even Shaq brought Brian Shaw from Orlando when he went to the Lakers.

Plus, Artest and Yao's joint press interview after the first round was one of the most hilarious NBA interviews I ever seen. For those who don't believe in the power of Ron Artest, look up what he did for the Sacramento Kings the first year he got there mid-season. They were great players individually, but were never great together. T-mac was only great for maybe his first 2 years with Houston before the injuries took a toll on him. He was barely able to shoot 40% after that. People fell in love with his hot streaks, but the truth was, he shot the Rockets out of games more often than not. Yao was still too young and developing at that time (not to mention injuries), and wasn't in his prime until Tmac had already fallen off. Honestly, the best Rockets run was during the Yao-Artest period. They took the eventual champion Lakers team to 7 games in 2009, and imo should have won if Yao didn't get injured. After that, Yao's injuries was too much to overcome and his career ended prematurely. It's sad really.

he should of stayed in Toronto...or Orlando..him and vince or dwight would of been a better duo out east than the passive injured soft ming out west...hes an idiot always wanting to leave when his teams getting good...he left Toronto in 2000 they made the 2nd round in 2001..he leaved Orlando in 04 after they draft d howard who will lead them to the 09 and 10 east finals without t mac..he is the guy who wasted a decade of high level skill while high school rivals leBron and kobe dominated the 2000's and he just was trash honestly...he had a huge ego

Legend of winning, I have a request...... I’d like you to do a video on Phil Jackson’s impact on his first year with Lakers compared to Lakers previous year without him. Also, how him and his staff elevated the Shaqs play along with the roster. How Phil mastered building a balanced roster of vets and how Dennis Rodman could’ve been a major piece to Lakers if Phil came to LA a season sooner, the big “what if”, Shaq & Rodman would’ve been nice if coached under Phil

Not only here but his ENTIRE career has been overly criticized. I mean yeah he never won a ring but again it’s a team game name me a team/player we’re one single player has won a ring for their team. T-Mac was and absolute BEAST

The point is they didn't get Mcgrady the talent until he was breaking down BADLY. Mike James? Jon Barry? David fucking Wesley??? I watched a lot of Rockets games around this period. Tracy forcing shots and trying to everything himself only gets you so far. Tracy Mcgrady was a luxury player who never got traded to a luxury team.

how good can a duo be if they are 0-3 in the first round? They faced some good teams sure, but if Harden gets called a choker while losing to the warriors, which has 5 HOFers, I don't know what you call losing to D Will and Boozer.

they were good enough- but not as good as the steve franchise/ yao ming squad would have been if van gundy would have just left well enough alone. conversely- if t mac would have stayed in orlando to mentor dwight howard- lord only knows what would have happened. he was so sure dwight would bust- he never gave it a chance..

After experiencing a true championship caliber team in the ‘93-‘95 Rockets, I was never fully convinced by this squad, although they certainly had some potential. They never seemed to have the right backcourt. People forget the Olajuwon led Rockets (along with Otis Thorpe and Robert Horry), had a backcourt of Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell (later Clyde Drexler), Sam Cassel and Mario Ellie - who, between them had the skills to outmatch and overwhelm any team in the NBA on any given night, especially in a five or seven game series.

The Houston Rockets were up 2-0 on the Mavericks in 05. Win game 1, you win the series 71% of the time. Win the first two games... you win the series 96% of the time. They won the first two games IN DALLAS (which is rare as hell, 2-0 on the road)... so now you only have to win 2 more games... w 3 of the five on your floor... goddammit, T-Mac...

I'm a raps fan but between 2007-2010 they had one of ky favorite rosters with Lowry Alston Yao, Artest, Battier, t-mac, Louis Scola, mutombo steve francis... the core of Artest, Yao, and T-Mac, mixed with the rotation and depth of up and comming talent and veterans injuries is the only thing that could have stopped them. I 100% firmly believe they would have beat both bign3 Celtics with Allen, Pierce and KG and the LALA with KB and Gusal ifnyao and T-Mac were 100%

Too much iso ball out of teams in the mid -00s. Cannot believe this team put together that giant win streak. Would a team still have a use for Yao Ming today? I mean yeah you get the billions of Chinese fans.....never mind that's all that matters is the money. But the way erryone playin, I'm not sure if he has a home. That trade from Houston to Orlando spun Steve Francis forever. Turnt him into a drunk. Him and Kat Mobley were lovers I think. They were more inseparable than the Morris brothers. Things aren't gonna end well for Kieff, manslaughter charge if not a murder in his future. Luckily his twin has a girlfriend now. But it's still 3/1 odds he turns out an accomplice. Jeff Van Gundy mama don't even like JVG. She don't love either them ugly muthas, Stan just as bad. 2002 TMac was the best version of TMac. GTFO. Averaged 32 and made it look easy, he was the purest scorer in the game, Kobe be damned.
