Mega Steelix in gen 7 UU is quite a fun story. Some of the stuff was mentioned in the video, but some big reasons it was also used were: -Latias was super oppressive with Elec-Z complimenting either it's dragon STAB or a boltbeam combination, this move shredded they daylights out of steels that weren't Mega Steelix. Its other niches over Aggron were notable, but this alone pretty much made it *better* than Mega Aggron on most teams. -It was genuinely more offensively threatening than Mega Aggron, it could do more damage to Latias and more importantly, it's Gyro Ball made it actually able to chunk Taunt Roost Hydreigon without a niche move, as Mega Aggron's Heavy Slam did surprisingly pitiful damage to the hefty hydra. They also mentioned the Curse set being able to handle Scizor, something primarily possible through it's stab EQ doing crazy boosted damage to even bulky Scizors. -It was also used in an early gen 7 UU meta that briefly unleashed Xurkitree, as it was one of the only things that resisted electric while not getting diced by either HP Ice or Energy Ball. Mega Steelix started off the gen as "Mega Aggron with a niche electric immunity" (As most common electrics did massive damage to it with fire moves) but ended the tier as Mega Aggron's superior because Mega Aggron just couldn't dice it against the dragons and Scizor punishing it for not running Fire Punch all day every day.

I love how Onix’s stats are SO memeworthy that people can’t stop focusing on it even though it has an evolution whose stats people can focus on instead (since usually the final evolved form of an evolution line is gonna be the one that’s used competitively, so how bad or good the earlier forms is doesn’t matter. USUALLY.)

If I had designed Onix, I would have given it the same attack stat as Geodude. I believe it would make it a threat early-game while not being overbearing, and frankly it would probably be as bad as usual in the rest of the tiers other than Little Cup, where I wonder if it would get banned even without Sturdy. Steelix would have 20 extra Attack, and 20 extra Speed, just to keep the total BST increase upon evolution, without making it an offensive nightmare in addition to its defensive prowess. ...oh, and I would make Onix rock only, without the Ground typing, which is more a detriment to it before evolution. Steelix would keep its typings, though, even if it was a bit weird for it to basically change types in this hypothetical time line.

I wish the slowest phaser still got to go first, that makes a lot more sense to me and would give some more utility to slower Pokemon (much of the metagame is a showoff of who's faster these days). Since faster Pokemon move first in positive priority, then it would only make sense for the inverse to be true, ie. Slower Pokemon moving first in negative priority.

If the new Legends game gives us any more variants, then Crystal Onix deserves one alongside its own evolution. Make it a Water/Ice type at least to avoid 4x damage unlike Water/Ground and Ice/Rock
@lipika2841

A 4× Grass weakness (& the only weakness of Water/Ground) is less severe than any of the downsides Water/Ice is troubled with (Stealth Rock denting its HP, more weaknesses). Water/Ground is an endlessly superior typing to what you're suggesting for Onix, unless your name is I-Bundle, which is a strong glass cannon packing Freeze-Dry, & I dont believe Crystal Onix would be like that.
