dude, I'm in my 3nd week of uni (uk) and my performance lecturer pulled up one of your videos, about running a better band practice - i later told him that i've watched loads of your vids and we proceeded to debate whether the ts808 or boss bd2 sounds better. love your vids and please help us settle the debate (blues driver all day) 👌

Just keep playing. Keep recording. You are creating art and the internet seems to be permanent. Maybe we'll be swallowed up in the Huxleyan deluge in the coming years, but our friends and family will have memories of what we did and maybe who we were. Rock on, brothers and sisters, whatever your style and taste. ❤

I'm close to crossing my 18 year mark of playing guitar. My development isn't exactly where I'd like it to be, but I was always a multi-instrumentalist so my practice was split between up to 5 others at one point. My 10 year anniversary of my blues album was in 2022, and was going to remaster it, with new solos of course. I felt a lot of the same things you did in this video. And whenever I play my old songs today, I feel they've just refined to more what I originally envisioned all those years ago when I first wrote them, or the skill has opened the way for it to sound clearer to that vision. Now as I wind down from music, I know skill wise I'm not as capable as my peak, due to my hand being injured and never actually practicing, but the wisdom gained from those 18 years allows me to properly play what I hear in my head come out through my speaker, and I'm more than content with that.

funny that this came up, since yesterday I just did a rough sketch (not even to "demo" stage by my reckoning) of a song I wrote over 20 years ago, to see if it would fit in my set/style these days. Watching your own growth in music is one of my favorite things about doing it!

I think the improvement from the ska band to the 2013 solo is incredible. In the first one, a common pub player, in the second a truly excellent guitarist with his own voice. Huge improvement in quite a short time.

Its funny to me because i've been playing for like 2 years, and i'm doing great i think, but i know if i practiced more i'd be better hahaha. Its intimidating because i've been doing mostly rhythm and no soloing really, and i'm scared i won't progress as easily as i do with rhythm. I'm also getting into jazz and i really wanna play with the band i'm in, i feel like i need to learn sheet music and like i'll play something wrong, but i'm learning nevertheless, and jazz is pretty rad. Although all of that really is pretty calm compared to composing/producing music. I feel like the sounds have to be a certain way and performance is weirdly difficult, its always i need this or that and well, its difficult. That's the part you don't get to see because well, it takes years and years of learning all these different arts from a team of people, and its quite the illusion sometimes. But there's a reason why we do it, and it's not because we're the best at it hahaha
