There's a reason there's not much competition in this space. I called 5 concrete grinding companies in my area before finding one that would grind the concrete in my business. 4 of 5 said they no longer offered the service, and two of the people told me directly that they got cancer from grinding concrete. Be careful out there, everyone. It's REALLY dangerous. The company that did come came in a hazmat suit with a large grinder like the one in the video that had two 5-foot-tall vacuums attached to the back of it. "You got weak lungs, Paul."

@@pnwprowash1 That's very true. The work definitely has to get done, and certainly makes for great business. Just adding my experience with the topic. Before contacting companies, I rented a small and large grinder. I tested out the handheld one, got dust all in my face and called the companies. And as I've said, most declined to grind my floors. It certainly can be a very dangerous job without adequate protection. Just because there's a demand for a service doesn't mean it's not dangerous or potentially hazardous to your health. I'm not making any assumptions about your company or insinuating that you haven't taken all possible precautions to keep you and your workers healthy. All love to other entrepreneurs. Wow 1,800 cost vs 60,000 in revenue. The Gross Profit is insane
@pnwprowash
Жыл бұрын
$1800 - $2000 is just the cost to finance the truck trailer grinders and equipment per month. Technically that’s overhead. Gross profit is in the 40-50% range. Then with that money you pay the bills and overhead and admin staff and try to squeeze out some profit

wheres he finding guys for $18/hr? Ive been in the epoxy coatings business for 30 years. An $18/hr guy barely has a heartbeat or relies on a ride to work. Its tough work most guys wont work for less than $40 in the trades.

$5,600 USD for a floor coating?! That's insane.
@ryanreviews1741
Жыл бұрын
I’d imagine it’s cheaper and takes far less time than demolishing and replacing the concrete itself.
@ryanacehigh
Жыл бұрын
@@ryanreviews1741 I just would have thought it would be a hard sell at that price point? It's not a high priority in how people spend their money right? Most concrete cracks are non structural so a coating is usually for aesthetic reasons only was my understanding?
@ryanreviews1741
Жыл бұрын
I think it probably does fall into aesthetics for sure, I did construction and we frequently did bathroom remodels. People would take their perfectly good functional bathroom and wanted to completely change the look or update it, much like how the concrete here serves its purpose and the cracks aren’t structural people may just want an updated look and to have it look nicer. In terms of selling it I think people can be talked into buying just about anything if they’re even mildly interested and if they have enough money to do so especially if you provide some type of benefit, so just telling people that your floor is going to last another 20-30 years just from having it coated then breaking it down to you’re only paying $5800 or roughly $200 per year for 30 years of worry free use of the floor I see no problem in understanding how someone could be sold on something like this.

Leveraging someone's 50% down payment on equipment, etc that you need to complete the job while getting started is shady. Is this normal?
@pnwprowash1
Жыл бұрын
Why is it shady if you do exactly what you told the customer? We still take 50% deposits to this day to schedule a job. There is products and colored flake that has to be ordered before each job. If the customer backs out they can have their money back minus whatever was already purchased for their job
@iamsam8446
Жыл бұрын
Just speaking for myself, if I put 50% down that should go towards materials for my job. If you're constantly using people's deposit for initial equipment purchases or buying inventory (for example), you run the risk of needing another project to complete the one you already agreed to. Seems akin to a pryamid scheme. That's just my perspective.

The customer isn’t a business partner of his. The customer is paying for a service which he is completing. The customer only concern is paying for the service that is needed. How is that a pyramid scheme they are not investors?
