I actually did this back in October of 2020. I was completely burned out, so I had checked out of life for a little while. Not being productive and just in a rut. At the time I called it a sanity sprint, where I focused on 3 things for 3 months (Q4 2020), broken up in 2 week sprints, but instead of a retro at the end, I did a weekly retro to gauge where I was. This helped me tremendously to get back to a place where I felt like myself again. As I am starting to pick up my startup and side business again, I think I'll take into account your addition of a mind map. Give myself a visual picture. Like always, this video is awesome. This would also be good to incorporate with OKRs, if people use that technique as well.

Wow… greatest Mindmap channel in my opinion. Showing us what a powerful multitool Mindmaps are for all areas of life. Teaching how to use them digitally & analog. Producing tutorials & also full live walkthroughs of how you implement it in your life. What a blessing, truly, thank you. Definitely looking forward to the Mindmap Community!

Really like your approach to using a combo of sprints, mind maps, and SMART Goals to experiment on personal goals and get yourself jump started on something. SMART goals have never been easy for me to remember and I was talking with a friend who does management training that found that they can actually stress people out and cause avoidance. He adds the AIM to them A-acceptable, I-ideal, M-middle. Give yourself a range of outcomes so it’s not 1/0 succeed fail. Keep making great content.

You did a great effort. Keep it up, don't stop. I am planning to spend my full weekend and learn from your videos. You should write some books based on your experience. I like the way that you attach everything to the mind map. I am learning mind mapping for one of my projects. What tool do you recommend ?

I really like your integration of mind maps and the SMART framework. I can tell you're in SF because you're wearing a down vest in May (the views are also a clue!). Minor thing: Your music might be too loud. Or maybe you could choose something other than jazz (which I like!); its semi-wandering structure pulls focus away from your voice.

Ever since I graduated from school, one thing that's been missing is the structure, and I've been struggling to try to find a way to do it. (In school the year was split up into three 4-month segments, and each one of those was split up in a rather predictable way). This seems like a great way to get myself back on track, kind of prove to myself that adulthood is worth doing.

Adulting is hard my friend. Some people never figure it out. We truly have to build our own structure in this world, otherwise we'll always be living in someone else's.

thanks for sharing your method! Very interesting to watch. It seems really effective, and surely will give you insights on the way, how do you avoid that this make you overthink your life activities, and ending up taking so much of your time or taking spontaneous enjoyment from the day,. Thanks

Hey Javier! Thanks for your question and I just made a Short to address it: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1Z9pmWyhbKKKZo4. The key is really to discover your own limits for structure vs spontaneity. Mine involved reducing the number and intensity of the goals to give myself more room for randomness!
