How do you annotate without breaking your flow? I find fiction so hard to tab because I get engrossed and race through the pages. Non-fiction is easier, it gets a tab whenever I go "HUH" inside
@littlebookowl

+Zank Apfel I don’t really force myself to break the flow with annotating, which is why I tend to have more tabs/notes at the start of the book than at the end. Sometimes if I take a break I’ll go back and tab parts that really stood out to me, but I don’t let it get too much in the way of my reading 😁

I just started annotating my books again because I'm trying to get back into book blogging and eventually start my own channel, and what I think is so funny is how my own color association for my tabs was similar to yours! Obviously pink for relationships was a standard, but I literally thought "I'll use orange for problematic or irritating scenes because I HATE that color" and I also use yellow for character descriptions/development! Anyway I LOVED this video! So many insightful bits that I'll definitely be trying! ☺️

i want to annotate with sticky tabs but it just reminds me of high school and not in a good way😂 my senior year english class we had to read a banned book and i chose the kite runner. our teacher did checks every few classes to make sure we were reading and annotating and she really didn’t like that i didn’t want to write in my book (that i bought with my own money, it wasn’t a school book) and no matter how many sticky tabs and sticky notes i used, she would give me a D every check in. i had at least one sticky note on each page and her requirements were one annotation per 8 pages so she just had a problem with me lol. long story short, she ruined annotating for me

I'm always super impressed by people who have complex annotation systems. I never annotate books because a vast majority of what I read are audiobooks or books from the library. I do write down thoughts/quotes/page numbers to revisit etc in a notebook. The only color coding I do is I'll have the color ink that I'm using for a specific book somewhat match the cover of the book.

Even for leisure I'm confused how I should be annotating only for my reading experience.
