**Note for 1:11 at the video, the "150% more growth" in the study was calculated as a sum of the 3 measurement sites on the biceps. However, the distal site (lower part of the biceps) was the only region to reach significance. With the middle region trending towards significance and the proximal region of the biceps having little change between the two groups (which is consistent with other research - "stretch mediated hypertrophy" seems to have a much greater effect on the distal regions of a muscle). I didn't want to go into the depth of this for the video, but maybe I should have - let me know if you think that is helpful information and if the way I presented it initially can be misleading. Also for 1:29, the graph text suggests "1.5x more growth" but it should have said "1.5x as much growth" (the graph is correct, just the text needed tweaking). My apologies. Anyways, hope you enjoyed this one! See below for links to the studies I mentioned! Cheers! Yea true strength is the only thing that matters to fighters, powerlifters, or pretty much any athletes. Only people who care about hypertrophy are insecure body builders. That's why I think body builders are the trash of all fitness. They only care about looks and hypertrophy. They dont care about health or true strength.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 💪 Implement stretch-mediated hypertrophy by choosing exercises that challenge muscles in the stretch position. 02:06 🏋️ Focus on form and depth over just lifting heavier weights to effectively challenge muscles. 03:02 🏋️♂️ Train close enough to failure during each set to maximize muscle growth. 04:12 😫 Change your mindset towards the pain of training, mentally prepare for each set, and push yourself harder. 05:23 🔄 Manage recovery by optimizing workout frequency and volume according to your body's capacity. 06:34 🍽️ Adopt a lean bulk approach, eating slightly above maintenance calories, to maximize muscle gains with minimal fat. 08:09 🕑 Be patient and consistent as muscle gains take time; trust the process for long-term progress. I 100% agree and kind of figured this out by trial and error. I’ve noticed significant bicep growth when incorporating preacher curls. I’ve also lightened the squat weight so I can go deeper, same results. It should be noted that max load under stretch can be dangerous, so folks should choose the overload wisely. Your growth is really apparent, congrats.

After a bad injury and starting getting gout for 10 years, doctors had me in steroids for treatment. It made me gain so much. New treatment over the last years and taking me off the other medication. I finally got gout under control. So now I weighed and I’m depressed, but it’s time to get back where I was. I’m 45 and I’m ready. Recovery, and the idea that your body needs to recover from more than just physical exhaustion is such a great point. A few months back I was working fulltime, taking night classes and trying to keep up a modest workout schedule, and, my body just couldn't do it. Daily stresses from work, and managing a study schedule left me with little energy, and when I would push my self, it resulted in complete mind and body exhaustion for several days following my workout. I stopped working out during the week, keeping my workouts to a few hours on Saturday morning, and while I didn't make any gains, for me, it was enough to negate any serious muscle atrophy. Great video with some great points. Keep up the great work guys!

I'm currently on a weight gain journey. (also I have an extremely fast metabolism and its been almost impossible to gain weight throughout my life ) I've been 57kg for a while however due to some personal issues I dropped down to a consistent 55kg for the first time in years and lowest was 53kg. It's been a month of me eating 2800kcl ( surplus) every day, having around 90 grams of protein a day, and doing full body workouts 3 days a week split into two routines A and B which I switch between after each workout. I'm now currently around 59kg and was wondering whether this is the most efficient and fastest way to gain weight and muscle mass Progressive Overload (+2.5kg on next workout after successfully completing sets) Workout A - Squats - 3x5 Flat bench - 3x5 chin ups - 3 x failure ( increase weight after 3 sets of 10) dips - 3 x failure ( increase weight after 3 sets of 10) tricep extensions- 3x8-10 barbell bicep curls - 3x8-10 Workout B- Squats - 3x5 Incline bench - 3x5 Deadlift - 1x5 Rows - 2x10 close Grip Bench barbell bicep curls - 3x8-10 If anyone has any tips/feedback it'd be really appreciated

Fantastic video! I've always trained full body 3x/week and take the last set to failure. However, now that I'm 58 I can only do that for three weeks and I'm burned out. Sometimes I need to take a week or more off to recover. But, thanks to this recovery time I get more gains then some younger guys. The stretch technique has definitely helped. I'm going to tweak my workout by reducing weight and focus on quality and stretch in the following weeks. Thanks Jeremy. 👍

I just got off a 1.5 year bulk. Went from 64kg to 74kg so 10kg gained in that time. My upper Abs are still just visible and I gained lots of strength on all my lifts. I'm now doing a 6-8 week cut to drop down to around 70kg before I do another lean bulk hopefully for another year or more to try and make my way up to 80kg. Was bulking at 3300 calories by the end which does seems like a lot for my weight but I have 2 active jobs, labourer and zookeeper so I'm very active throughout the day and was only gaining 100-200 grams a week sometimes less. Lean bulking is definitely the way to go and building muscle is a slow process but the end results are definitely worth it.

1.5 years?!? I went from 60kg-62kg to 74kg in about 3 months..maybe 4 but in that period i did take 2+ weeks off. I was doing 5x5..it worked like magic. Due to heavy lifting, i got hungry every 2 or 3 hours so I was doing about 4000 - 5000kcal
@andrewpayne5093
Жыл бұрын
@ertugrulbae46 the workout has nothing to do with how much weight you gain. It's the diet. You can only put on so much muscle naturally. How much body fat did you gain in that time ?? Probably way more then me as I did a slower bulk. 10kg in 3 months is like 3kg a month... unless you were on steroids you cant gain that much muscle in a month. Most of that would of been fat. Have fun you you have to start cutting it all off..
@ertugrulbae46

@@andrewpayne5093 I was 17/18 so I had a huge growth hormone and Testosterone spike...also it was my first time in the gym so newbie gains. There wasn't really much fat, I'd say 15%..maybe 20% may have been water weight though. Also I did squats more than anything, 3x or 2x a week depending on the alternating split. Deadlifts 1x a week or 2x a week depending on the split. That alone builds a shit tonne of mass but people neglect the 3 biggest muscles in the whole damn body which probably account for half the muscle mass in the body if not more. I did loose my packs except the top 2. But in all fairness I did 0 abs training. Ain't touched roids tho. I don't think I need em tbh. I have a cousin who did naps. My gains are roughly on par with him. The workout has everything to do with how much weight is gained. 8-12 reps were a waste of time for me personally.
@andrewpayne5093
Жыл бұрын
@ertugrulbae46 even with newbie gains, 10kg in 3 months is very unrealistic, thats 40kg in a year.. large amounts of water weight is gained a few weeks into a bulk, after that your weight stabilises. So it wouldn't be water weight 3 months later... workouts and exercises means nothing if diet is bad. You can do the exact same workout and squat 3x a week, but if you aren't eating enough calories or enough protein you won't grow muscle.. however if you do the exact same workout and squat 3x a week, and do a dirty bulk gaining 10kg in 3 months then you'll get strong, but also fat as hell.. Do a cut and see how much muscle is under your fat you gained.. 100% you won't look as big as you think. Not trying to sound like a dick but building muscle takes YEARS.. not a few months even as a naturally newbie would take a year at most for decent gains.. you probably got stronger and look bigger but cut down and you'll probably have the same about of muscle as when you started. I stared at 9-10% body fat and ended at 15%. So that's about 5% of body fat gained after over a year of a slow bulk and then only had to spend about 10 weeks cutting back down the little bit of fat I gained. And I was also doing all the big compounds and after a year my strength on them went up a lot.. Unless you want to be a fat powerlifter who's goal is to lift as much weight as possible then keep doing what you are doing, but if your goal is aesthetics/bodybuilding then you need to massivey slow down your bulk and gain that 10kg over a year instead. You'll still be getting stronger and bigger each week, just with way less fat.. good luck with whatever your goal is.

@@andrewpayne5093 I kinda got happy with my results.. then never went back to gym 😂. Never bothered checking 1rp, but for 5x5 I had 105kg on squats, can't remember what deadlifts were but it was similar to squats. Barbell rows were about 75kg-80kg. Bench was about 80kg - 85kg. OHP was a strict vertically flat bench to avoid chest (0 decline at all) and to void momentum of legs and back from standing. Managed about 45kg on them. I started off with decently high numbers tbh. Bench was about 40kg back in school days when I was about 13 - 15 in PE. So i got to 50kg straight in no time. Squats about 50kg - 60kg in no time (did do less before but that was to get form right, not bec I'm "working out"). I was calm with the result. Even though I probably could have done these as an 8 rep max. (But for less sets obvs) At that point I just felt too small to lift more and kinda plateaued. So I thought I reached max strength and back then I didn't know you loose muscle and strength lol. (Also wondered why those steroid junkies still bother going to gym if they look like that. I didn't know it needs to be maintained) But I was still slightly underweight for my height at 74kg and the large kcal diet kinda continued as I was used to it. So I kept eating till I got to about another 11 - 13kg which was the best spot for over all balance. Kcal probs around 3k - 3.5k. After a few years.. Got a bit overweight after that and now currently about 91kg - 92kg If I hit the gym again.. I'm certain that weekly weight gain would be rapid due to muscle memory. So realistically weight would be probably around 94kg - 95kg in about a month.

Hey Jeremy, something I want to point out is that while the cable machines are ideal for some of these movements, They often times make the workout take longer than it needs to be. The reason that happens is in commercial gyms equipment gets shared. So if you try juggling 2 spots you may end up losing a piece of equipment you need. Which in reality will lead to you waiting by your piece of equipment doing nothing when you're on rest. I just wanted to point this out because most of us have more going on in our lives than just building muscle with the absolute 100% most ideal methodology. With that said I would love to see you touch base on utilizing time in the gym effectively in one of your future videos.

Don't fear loosing Abs. I'd rather look bigger in a shirt with around 15% bodyfat then being fixated on having Abs that you hide in public 98% of the time anyway... Honestly, I was fixated on having Abs always dieting ect to have them and never getting any bigger. But 98% of the I'll be wearing a shirt in public, at the gym ect so nobody would be looking at them anyway.. I actually feel more comfortable with myself now after a lean bulk being just under 15% bodyfat and looking thicker with clothes on and still having slightly visible Abs anyway... I'm out more with clothes on (except when at the beach) so i feel like its better to look bigger in clothes and easier to maintain then trying to look shredded for a few weeks or months just to have random people on the street look at you topless (which even so, I doubt many people will even care you got abs).

Thanks brethren. I did my first ever “bulk” and fat came with it, but I feel better and look better. I’ll bulk a little longer and definitely cut. Good to see someone on KZitem go thru a similar process.

“The preacher curl led to almost 150% more growth.” No. It led to 50% more growth. The key word here is more. You make the same mistake in the graphics when talking about the tricep extensions. 50% more means 150% as much. 150% more means 250% as much. 0% more means exactly the same.

It was already commented, but I felt like I needed to say don't be worrying about roided out diced KZitemrs. Your body is what a man is supposed to look like that is strong and fit. We weren't designed to look like robots. It's not healthy. Keep doing you. Cheers 🍻

Wow that's great knowledge, thanks. Been silently watching your videos for years and lately I thought your physique looks natural and kept asking myself "wow he looks so fucking good and healthy what has he done?"

I would also suggest, if you are going to keep track of your progress that you measure your results from when you started. Not your end goal. Heard this said in a KZitem video and it hit home.

I did a very similar thing. You are 100% honest here I think. Great advice for the kids. If you want to gain even more then train more vectors and more muscles if any are left out still. Improve diet even more. Instead of pasta go for germinated wheat. Add onions or apples, add more citrus fruit while cutting out rice. Making sure to eat flax and walnuts, etc. Get your K2 and iodine , Zn, Mag levels right too. Get your kale or something too and real sunshine. Mung and lentils and soy beans are best friends. LOTS OF CARDIO. Cardio is more important than lifting I found - as far as natty muscle growth goes. Because cardio modulates our hormone activity You can add another 15 pounds if you really nail nutrition. You won't look natty anymore.

To summarize, Jeremy buffed up by: - Becoming strong in weak positions - Training with intensity - Taking more rest(growth) days - Eating bigger to get bigger And staying consistent over a very long period of time making small improvements every single day.

hi, I need to clarify this. Lets say I work my chest and every muscle group 2 times a week and every time I do 6 VARIATIONS with 3 sets each. So thats 18 sets for Chest. Am I doing any junk volume cuz i can do all 6 effectively going to failure.

@@pavamanabhyudhay9481 Bruh you're gonna get hurt and not gonna be able to recover from such a workload if you do 36 weekly sets to failure for one muscle group.

I have noticed the difference in your physique in the the last year or so, well done! I am almost a religious fundamentalist about the “two on, one off, two on, two off” training routine. I’m particularly happy to see you adopt it!

It took me 7 months to gain 70 pounds, I’m pretty young and tall though - all natural, but my muscles just seem to gain so fast when I’m eating much more (which I’ve never done before to such an extent).

I have noticed that doing slower, deeper reps with less weight definitely feels more challenging. I have only been doing that for about two weeks now, so I have not yet seen a difference in muscle growth, but I am feeling it a lot more the following day or two in all muscle groups than when I was lifting heavier. I would like to add I am currently doing a cut, so the increased soreness could be from muscles not healing enough due to lack of calories, but I have been in this cut for a while, so I think it is down to the form and weight change.
