Dooooo it! I painted our sun room black and it was fabulous. There were ten windows and two doors surrounded by white trim and a 6” molding. Our fireplace wall and floor to ceiling bookcases are black in our new house, I’m considering painting the rest of the room black...my husband will get use to it. 😬😆

Great video - thanks. If you get lucky you can get one of these example tile boards from the tiles selling shop. When a certain kind of tile gets kicked out of the sortiment, they sometimes throw those example boards into the trash. Still one has to be lucky to hit that very moment for a tile, that suits ones purpose.

😂 Becki I'm dying at the struggle of you using the contact paper. The pro tip is to use Windex first, then squeegee the access liquid using the flat edge tool. That way you don't get creases and it makes it easier to line up the paper without it getting stuck. I live in an apartment and hate the laminate countertops so I used contact paper. It's lasted for 4 years now. There are better brands for the tiles that are really marketed towards renters, not homeowners and the look does turn out well, but it's only recommended for a small backsplash, not a full reno. This was a great video! The finale looked amazing!

If you want some more variety for surfaces, I've had some great luck just getting a couple of the 12x12 and 18x18 tiles from big box stores. Some of them have a little bit of texture to them so they aren't as reflective as peel and stick/lino and are a little easier to light to look natural.

Becki, if I owned a Frank Loyd Wright beautifully inspired home such as yours I definitely would not cheap out and used peel and stick tiling for the kitchen, in that you are absolutely and logically totally correct, especially given the factors you cite. However, being a great photographer, I would not have passed up the opportunity to use technology to display my work matted on a framed big screen TV, being able to on occasion to use that area of my home as a set with my work as a backdrop. Respectfully, do you not see the illogic and incongruity between these two decisions?
@BeckiandChris
2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you have to make compromises with those you live with, I pulled for a TV like that but Chris wanted something bigger. Unfortunately they didn’t have large ones like that at the time of purchase
@ChipBeforePC
2 жыл бұрын
@@BeckiandChris While hindsight is usually 20 / 20, my only question is at the time wasn't there something a little smaller that was a frame TV (i.e. with the ability to display your outstanding photos with a matted border) that was a better compromise? Another thought given all the issues surrounding that particular TV could you not go back to Samsung and make a case that they should exchange the current TV for one of their frame TV?

Looks good for a tiny "set", and very imaginative / creative (surprisingly). Maybe some "white-out" over the joins in the tiles would hide them? Just spit-balling. Tiling is all about the imperfections, and doing your best to avoid them. Bet you're looking forward to a shower?
