I got my PB in March 2022 at 4.28lbs. I tried to catch it on a dropshot, but it was only looking at the weight, not the soft plastic above. Switched to a jig and got it.

Caught my PB Largemouth at Brady, TX (4.98lbs) in a local club kayak tournament this year and also my PB rainbow trout in Red River, NM (19.5inches). The bass was actually a maintenance cast and a gust of wind blew the kayak back, my line got tight, I just thought it was hung, it pulled back I set the hook and had a nice little fight. The trout I was playing with my first BFS, threw a micro spoon in to a pool and got slammed.

I absolutely could have, I caught a 10 pounder a few months later without using live scope. I just would have had to make the right cast over what I already knew was a good area. I just used the best technology to make the most of my time and have the most fun

- i’ve found schools without live scope, schools that win tourneys…. But I did it on an educated guess and the right lures… live-scope just makes the process more efficient, especially on a large body of water.

Congrats Tyler on your PBs! Big fan of your content! caught my personal PB smallmouth this summer 2022 in the U.P. of Michigan on Lake Modera which was 5 lbs even and my PB largemouth back in 2012 which broke my analog scale out at 16 lb 6 oz at my university lake and funny enough would have won me the school (Florida Gulf Coast University) record and landed me on the schools fishing team however bc I didn’t get it certified at the time it wasn’t counted. Both bass were caught on the Berkley Money badger (blazing orange) and the Cotton Cordell popper (fire tiger).

Several of the lakes with in an hour or so of Ivie are big bass factories. They aren’t as pressured and haven’t been as publicized. The main problem with west Texas lakes is access. With the drought we’ve had some of them are critically low right now, and they have had to close boat ramps.
