So true. As my dermatologist informed me saying if I have oily skin; (which I do) applying more oil to my skin will cause more havoc. (And it did) So my skincare products consist of no added oils, a gentle cleaner, (contains no harsh chemicals) and micellar water which has made a tremendous difference. However, this apparently works great for her because her skin is beautiful.

Yall the general key to a clear face is this every night: 1) if you wear make up or other things on your face like spf or lotion remove it, 2)clarifying cleanser to strip the makeup you missed and other things sitting on your face like oil and dirt. 3)some type of gentle exfoliation. whether it's a gentle chemical peel, or exfoliating gloves. Just something to remove dead skin on your face. Don't go ham on your face and rub it raw but gently remove the top later of dead skin cause that traps dirt and oil under your skin and causes bumps and acne. I say gentle exfoliant because this is a nightly routine, and exfoliating to harshly everyday will damage your skin. 3) something to moisturize the skin (removing the top dead layer makes moisturizers soak into the skin better that's why you moisturize after exfoliating) and something to minimize pores 4) your sealant to trap that moisture and goodness in your skin The products aren't really the key thing here, it's the technique, knowing each step and what each step is for, and consistency. I do t wear foundation anymore since perfecting my skin routine and the stuff I use is inexpensive because I know what each step is for and understand their purpose. For me I keep it simple. I use an $8 cleanser from Medline Remedy to strip dirt and oil from my face, I use EITHER exfoliating gloves with my black soap to do the next 2 steps at the same time (exfoliate and moisturize because black soap has Shea butter in it) OR I use my 20% glycolic acid wipes to exfoliate my skin and remove that top layer then go in with my black soap (I don't do this as much, more so when I was trying to get rid of the dark marks and acne starting out when it was bad), then after moisturizing I rub my fa e down with witch-hazel because it's an astringent, meaning it causes the contraction of skin cells and tissue.. laymans terms it shrinks pores, then seal my face with good ole Vaseline. It's not the products you use, I promise. You can use whatever you like so long as they do the things in each step. The main thing is technique and staying consistent with it EVERYDAY till your skin clears up. ✨️ then there's other little things you can do to help aid your skin clearing up, like drinking more water, weekly changing of your pillow cases, sheets, and other things that touch your face regularly (like even cleaning your glasses which alot of people with nose acne should do), changing you diet if you eat a lot of greasy or sugary foods and eating enough vitamin c and biotin, or taking a supplement with them. These last things arent mandatory but they will help aid in your face clearing up. Also stop popping your bumps and touching your face in general

i totally feel you! i think if you’re nervous i would start as simple as possible and add in products that you think would be compatible w your skin and the items you’re trying to treat! if you want to start and also not spend a crap ton like me, you can start as simple like: 1. a gentle cleanser (i use cerave’s foaming facial cleanser, not too expensive and i get it at walmart, in fact i get the generic/equate brand) to wash your face 2. apply a moisturizer that already agrees with your skin. 3. add more products into your routine as you see fit one at a time to make sure that product does well w/ your skin i think being consistent in doing your skincare daily and keeping your hands clean + off your face when it’s dirty is key, and spf on top if/mixed in with your moisturizer during the day too

I’ve learned that my cure to hyperpigmentation was fragrance free products. I even bought unscented natural deodorant and my armpits almost matches the rest of my skin. And I’m shaving more frequently. I’ve learned a lot about artificial fragrances and the harsh horrible ingredients in them, which can vary. Also, companies don’t have to list the awful ingredients they used for their fragrances. So we never really know. Then there are some very drying ingredients that also damage skin. so I and found that these were the major reason for any breakouts I’ve had and hyperpigmentation. Since I switched to fragrance free face products, my hyperpigmentation drastically improved. I’ve definitely noticed smaller pores and this method even improved my sons acne where other things haven’t. I’m telling y’all, stay away from fragrances and then see what other ingredients might be worsening issues. But I do feel fragrance is a major contributor to hyperpigmentation

Your skin looks amazing and you are beautiful. I used to have a Clarisonic and when I first started using it my skin was amazing for a bit but the effect didn’t last even with continued use. Clarisonic went out of business and I think it’s because they are recommended against due to over exfoliating and the brush heads harboring bacteria. So I would tread lightly with the brush and ditch the makeup wipes because they say that all that rubbing isn’t good in the long run and it’s also bad for the environment. I believe the wipes don’t break down as they’re made of plastic material. Also I’ve read and heard a lot about hydroquinone being great for the skin but that we should be careful not to over use for extended periods of time because… something about the melasma coming back worse or something. Especially for skin of color. It looks like all of these things are working out for you because you look amazing but just be careful. And wear sunblock.

Yes these prescription creams can be expensive when prescribed and often not covered by insurance (like sometimes $100s and $1000s) so I’m not against going a cheaper route. Just do your research! Please switch over to a silicone brush. A lot of dermatologists dont recommend bristle brushes due to it holding bacteria, making micro tears in the skin, and interrupting the skin's layer with long term use. Although most would say you only need your hands, they ask if you feel you need to use a brush use the silicone one. Edit: eye creams are a flop lol. @Mimi mimk Easier to clean thoroughly, softer on the skin, and more flexible. They say we don't need any gadgets at all but of course "we" dont want to believe that because we feel we get a better clean with devices although there is no research behind it (according to dermatologists). It's less likely to hold bacteria that can interrupt the skin, less likely to tear the skin, and because of that it's less likely to put bad bacteria in the layers of the skin that causes acne, rashes, etc.

You are GORGEOUS!! ♡ I'm so glad this works for you, but wipes of any kind are so harsh of my face, and same for brushes. I usually use an oil to remove the makeup then a foaming cleanser to remove the oil, followed by a chemical exfoliation mask. (Blue Tansy is fantastic btw! You feel a difference IMMEDIATELY after each use. I hiiiiiighly recommend.) Then moisturizer and I'm done! So for my sensitive skin girlies, yall can try this and add any other products she mentioned! Serums are great, although i don't use any ♡

I still have a few breakouts and black spots but it's only been 2 weeks since starting on Vaseline.. I'm grateful for the little progress.. my skin is very dry so ya.. it would also peel.. but ya.. I stopped using harsh products and I'm praying my acne goes away soon ...It's already so much better

I love the cleansing brushes!! They really help! I used to use the facial sponges but you go through so much. If you ever get a chance to get or try facials from Hand and stone from one of their top lead estheticians. I love hand and stones clarity line but, their dermalogica line a bit cheaper and honestly a little better on some products! I started working there and using their products recently at home and I noticed a difference. My absolute favorite is the shimmering facial oil, it gives you such a nice dewy glowy look before your moisturizer and sunscreen! The best part is the esthetician can tell you what your skin is missing, and sometimes the products come with samples to give out if your regimen that day included a certain product that would help you until your next visit!

I love that you have some skin care knowledge. To be honest, most skin care gurus on KZitem don’t know what the heck they’re talking about. Have you ever tried using micellar water or, cleansing oil/balm to get rid of your make up? Also, I would skip using tretinoin along side AHAs and BHAs, as it can become too much for the skin. I, myself, use Adapalene every other day. While I use my AHAs and BHAs on alternate days.

@@LethalWeapon73 Which part do you need to have explain?
@marcustoone8899
2 жыл бұрын
@@LethalWeapon73 So, micellar waters and cleansing balms are oil based methods of cleansing the skin. Typically, this is the first step in cleansing. You would usually follow up with a foam or gel cleanser after using them. Now as for AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta hydroxy acids), these are actives that penetrate the skin at different levels in order to exfoliate dead skin cells and to increase cell turnover. AHAs are typically hydrating and exfoliating, while BHAs are typically drying while also providing exfoliation. BHA‘s work by going into the pore and excavating out extra oil (sebum), and any other gunk you might have in there. The desired affect of an BHA is a pore-less, clear complexion. But, as they are actives, these acids have to be used sparingly. No more than three times a week is best. But, some skin types can take daily use. I would recommend speaking with a board-certified dermatologist for any good information on skin care, though. Don’t learn skin care through social. It will only lead to disaster.

It seems like the Skinlite cream was really what did it…tretinoin alone is used to treat acne and the skinlite cream also contains hydroquinone which is used to fade hyperpigmentation. She mentioned that the cream was what really transformed her skin. I personally wouldn’t use hydroquinone because of the possibility of rebound hyperpigmentation but that’s just me.
@mandyk510
3 жыл бұрын
@Mimi mimk depends on skin type but in the AM I used a gentle cleanser, vitamin c serum, discoloration serum, and SPF. At night I used the same cleanser, chemical exfoliant/toner (REN AHA glow tonic - used daily until hyperpigmentation was gone then I switched to using 1-2x per week), discoloration serum, and lightweight moisturizer. There were also some nights when instead of using the glow tonic, I used retinol and on those nights, I kept my skin care routine even more simple since retinol doesn’t play well with other ingredients. I just didn’t use hydroquinone because I was not going to a dermatologist that could assist me in working it into and back out of my routine properly and because I ended up seeing results with over the counter products that didn’t contain the ingredient.

Hydroquinone isn’t a formula that anyone should be afraid of if used correctly. You’re using it the way it should be used. What hydroquinone does is suppress melanocytes. If you suffer from melasma or hyperpigmentation the hydroquinone will help lighten that build up of pigment/ melanin in the skin.
