Currently, my biggest producer by far (in a lake filled with largemouth and threadfin shad) is a 2” Cotton Cordell spoon (with an upsized treble hook). I just swim it and the bass hammer it. Just this week I’ve caught bass from 1 to over 4 lbs.

That’s called the P-Train hope in southeast Louisiana we jig for speckled trout like that with ball head’s& matrix Shad on I-10 bridge & HWY-90 bridge !!! C.Z. I have told you anytime you come through and have a 2-3 hours or even a couple days I will show you what payed guys won’t show and the other 3/4 can’t because they don’t know about our home town play ground!!

I did notice if I am to far away from boat, the fall is much shorter after the initial cast, when pulling bait up from bottom.

I bet the Lamiglas 7’9” twitching rod would be perfect. It’s made for twitching jigs for coho, but the action sounds perfect for spoons.

WD-40 is a great trick to keep those blades shiny. Salt water guys will clean and soak their blades in WD-40 all the time to keep that maximum shine.

@@Zaldaingerous The pressure has moved on to other lakes fortunately and to help the fishery rebound they are planning a restocking program. I heard it may be Florida strain, but that's not 100% sure. Last year the tournament pressure was horrendous and the amount of bass killed was outrageous.

My son used wd40 on bait on a skunk day and got hit over and over. Lol. No idea why besides maybe weird looking as wd is water repellent so maybe made some weird water around bait. They can’t smell oils so maybe it’s scentless and makes weird water? Good ol wd.

You don’t need a graph to flutter spoon but you do need some sort of depth. Have you ever casted a spoon like they do for redfish?

It works - I also use the 7’9” Heavy Muse. Depends on my mood I guess, but both work great.
