I tried to " resist " making a comment, but I couldn't help myself. Glad you got it working. I know how valuable my drum sander is to me in my shop. Stay safe and be well, my friend.

I used a 9 volt motor and some clip-on wires. My motor works. I ordered the variable speed controller you suggested and I got the bearings for the raising and lowering as well (I saw that on someone else’s video). The only thing I didn’t see was the inline fuse you added. I really appreciate you making this video. I found it super helpful. I didn’t realize there are different controllers for fixed magnet motors. Without your help I would have been dead in the water (figuratively).

nearly the same problem. Glad I found this video so I can order that speed controller. Thanks.

Thanks for the Video. This helps alot. I left a comment with Delta in regards to discontinued parts and changing the plastic gears for raising and lowering the conveyor belt....what a complete joke that is. they are in the most difficult place to replace. Plastic gears are for plastic kid toys...not machines meant for Reliable Wood Shops.

I am looking at purchasing one of these. You have obviously used this machine a LOT. How was the belt tracking? I have read endless complaints about tracking issues being a constant headache

Have you had trouble getting yours to TRACK straight? Mine constantly tracks to outside /toward open end, despite tightening and loosening each side in every combination. Even authorized Delta service guy was stumped. He thought he'd fixed it, butwhatever he did was short lived.

I do. I think that item and the conveyor motor are the weakest links in the unit. I’ve had the same issue with tracking which if you notice my inside belt is loose while the outside is tight. I found it the easiest to put the belt under load while adjusting the tracking.

My Infeed motor shot craps last year - the second time the nylon gears in the motor stripped. I have found a lot of companies that used to work on Delta in the area refuse to work on them. Where did you get the new motor? I'd prefer to replace the motor with another, more durable motor that isn't made of nylon components. Do you have any recommendations?

It appears I have this issue with one I received from a friend. Where can you get the rheostat you fixed yours with? Or where can I find a diagram of the original wiring within the switch? Thanks

So, did you know there is a circuit breaker on that board with a reset button that you can press through a hole above the dial? Ngl I feel like you probably just needed to reset it. It's there to do the job of that inline fuse you put in.

Tested the same controller with a fuse and motor spun fine. Went to test without fuse and I tripped my house circuit breaker. I think I fried something on the AC side.

It would probably be safer and easier if you used a pair of jumper wires w/ alligator clips to hook the wires together for testing. You would then be able to turn the conveyor belt on without holding live electrical wires in you hand. Some times accidents do happen.

I think the "resistor" that gave you no reading was actually a diode which is a polarized component that acts like a one way check valve for electricity or current and when testing it for resistance would give no reading in one polarity and might give a resistance reading in another polarity ... I'm clearly no expert but It might lead you on the right path next time. ( I paused the video and commented before watching the whole video )

No it was fried. It smoked like crazy and when it locked up it sent back amperage to the rheostat. Fried them both.

Oh funny, I was like that’s a diode not a resistor. Then I was like, oh I’m sure he just edited the video wrong and is out of sequence. Then you said you tested a diode. Oh well 🤷🏽♂️. That’s how we learn.

Ha, I may still have done things wrong in a way too. I admit that and I tried to be as transparent as possible that I wasn’t sure about this stuff and I was nervous to let this video go b/c I know I was not speaking the lingo correctly. Thank you for being kind and understanding.

It's really obvious from some of your erroneous comments that you have NO IDEA about electrical circuitry. With your obviously limited knowledge you SHOULD NOT be doing a demonstration on KZitem about how to fix your faulty drum sander. If you want to risk playing around with your sander by all means do so but do not presume to instruct others on how to do so. Very irresponsible!!!

It is obvious by your ARROGANT comments that you must know what you are talking about when it comes to electrical and that is GREAT for you. I NEVER claimed to be an expert in electrical. This is basically a demo on how I fixed mine. I didn’t do this blindly. I had hep from a journey man on what to do. He may not have taught me all the lingo but big whoop. The end result is still the same. You don’t see my KNOW IT ALL self going on other inexperienced woodworkers pages and discredit them do you? Comments and suggestions are great but to COMPLETELY discredit them and or me is very disrespectful.

He’s not instructing anyone on anything. 😂 He’s just sharing what he’s currently working on which is what almost everyone on the Internet does, if you haven’t noticed. Maybe when you hear people talk you think they are telling you what to do?
