NOTE: I didn't mention it but the case with the graded cards and fossil packs above was from Hobby Lobby, no assembly required for that one! The Venusaur and Blastoise are the celebrations versions and Charizard is the Evolutions version in the frame because I had my original base set graded in the case above and didn't want to spend hundreds to get another copy of those cards!

I’m a gengar card away from doing this exact thing. Although I was considering putting in pins of the first 8 badges as space filler

Funny how many of us are doing this, finishing up mine now, getting the cards pressed flat against the glass is my current issue. I used non-acidic double sided tape for the sleeves, very user friendly. Great video

Nice work on your frame. For mine I used builders chalk line to layout all the grids for each card line horizontally and vertically(paint brush removes chalk later) and rolls of double sided tape along the grid lines to attach the sleeves too. Starting from each corner of the sleeve attaching them down and pulling them somewhat tight to avoid and wrinkles, I got to say it turned out unreal.

Why not use 9 pockets and cut the extra fringe off?

Looks great Zach! I still like Pokémon cards but I prefer Yugioh cards a bit more. I kind of like that aged look that Yugioh cards kind of have. I think, a year or 2 ago I bought the Egyptian god cards. I was like, I wanted these cards since I was 13 years old I am 31 I am buying them. Note: I know I missed the Resident Evil finale. Sorry I got tired and went to bed. Are you playing a new game this Thursday?

I'm planning on doing this soon. I'm about 8 holo cards from finishing the 151 ( avoiding online shopping. Only local stores). But I'm not sure how I feel about seeing the wrinkles of the soft sleeves under the glass. I wonder how this would work/look with the toploaders.
@DweeBros
Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I didn't even notice the wrinkles even with how picky I was! The only issue I see with doing this with top loaders is they're normally bigger in size than the sleeves that are closer to the card size so the resulting custom frame would be a bit larger in size and have a bigger gap between each card.

I did this project a few years ago following the same original guide. One thing I did was experiment with different sleeves to find the thickest I liked, making them less wrinkly. I also put garbage cards in while mounting the sleeves so the glue did not scrunch the sleeve when drying. There are still imperfections, but when you are a reasonable distance away (5+ feet) it's really hard to tell they are in sleeves at all.

Im not too familiar with frames. You said that the mat and frame are 46.5 x 34.25. Wouldn't they be different sizes since the frame is larger than the mat?
@DweeBros
Ай бұрын
The mat would be 46.5 x 34.25. With the outside frame the whole thing would be larger than that. The size I gave is the surface size you need to fit all the cards in.

Haha, you're welcome! Glad to help 👍If you're just doing base set I bet you can get away with just a standard frame vs having to custom make it.

Not glass but it's plexi glass and yes it is UV resistant. Would not recommend regular glass for something this big if that is what you meant!
