A great thing about fig trees is that you can take a small cutting and turn it into a fig tree that will produce good tasting fruit in less than one year. The ability to produce fruit in a single growing season is not only a rewarding experience for impatient people like me, but it also enables growers to improve decision making by providing an initial look at the fig variety within a one year timeframe. In this video I describe the strategies I use to maximize the probability that I get figs from my new trees in their first year.
