Well the good news is KZitem is a lot more lucrative than Etsy is once you get a good audience for sure. That's why most Etsy sellers who hit 6+ figures stop selling and just sell courses and do KZitem. The good news is, your information is actually useful and transparent vs. most people who do this. That's totally appreciated

HI there! I am really glad you enjoy my content! First up... it is nothing short of JAW DROPPING just how lucrative Etsy can be and for just the average joe! No big fancy business degree or loans needed! Just ALOT of elbow grease! AND.... KZitem in incredibly lucrative as well but you have to have something valuable to share to make the big money on KZitem. This too is nothing short of astonishing to me! Many of the big KZitemrs making content have figured out how to get their Etsy shops more on autopilot and how to hire help. If someone was selling a course on how to do that I would scoop it up in 2 seconds! I am wishing you so much success!

Shawna, we can't thank you enough for sharing your Etsy journey and what strategies you employ for your growth! I always think how do Etsy sellers have time to run a YT channel and Etsy shop when both are so demanding. I am curious to see what your BEP strategy will yeild and if you are able to crush the theives who stole your designs. 😢 That is one thing that really bothers me and the fact that there is little you can do to protect your work. I hope your YT channel continues to grow so you won't have to worry about the Etsy thieves when YT will be paying the bills. Thank you again for another outstanding video ❤

you had talked about sometimes not having time to list as many items in your store as you would like on a daily basis to keep the momentum going. I don't know if Etsy works the same way as Ebay on algorithms but when I was reselling if I didn't have time I would cancel some of my listings and then relist them. They showed as new listings, so it kept the algorithm going.

Are you listing consistently (at least every couple of days)? Are you niched down or are your designs more general? Are you making more of the things that were getting the views? Are you watching tutorials of how to make great designs? These are all things I would be reflecting on to make sure my next 200 designs got me closer to my goals than the last 200. This is what happened to me with starting out my shop. Due to my ignorance of Etsy fees I didn't make much of a profit from the past few months and this was not intentional lol. Lowering the price and ad fees can really tank a shop's profit, especially when starting out. However I lowered my ad spend the past two months and my sales started to go down, so I'm ramping it back up for Q4. Glad to see you did so well in August! I saw a shop go from 1000 to 10,000 sales during the back to school season from teacher shirts, it was crazy! Are you focused on listing Christmas items now or still listing Halloween items? Appreciate all your videos! :)

Amazing success, Shawna! Always so inspiring. The one thing about Etsy that is hard to predict is external factors that come along with becoming more successful. Namely, people starting to copy popular bestselling designs to oblivion. I had a design that sold several hundred copies for one of the previous smaller holidays. Unfortunately, as soon as people started spying it's sales, they started straight up stealing my pictures (got all those shut down!), or heavily "inspiring" from it, so now it's no longer unique since many have made copies in slightly different colors etc. I know I will have to come up with some new design ideas for the next year when this holiday comes around again. But the good thing about being creative is that the copycats will always be a few steps behind :)

Per my research, “Make Money Online” is a HUGE niche and I totally get it that eventually the KZitem creators would sell extra information in the course they create to be an extra sources of income but I still don’t get how revealing secrets to create a successful POD store would be beneficial to the store owner? By tons of data I think a lot of ppl has had a decline in profit just from refund requests from print fulfillment companies! I won’t call out any particular “names” but if you are in POD (esp shirts, mugs and blankets ) you all have probably dealt with a bunch of upset customers! And these ones are totally understandable bc from my samples I was so upset from the products!! Good job Shawna and congratulations!! You are always inspiring regardless of what is happening ❤

Hey there! So most of my refunds are canceling peoples orders that order and request that they were going to receive their items within the next three or four days. This goes through with Etsy as a refund. Next up in the refund department and by a big second to that is mistakes that I have made with syncing the wrong size or some other silly error and then lastly, every once in a while, my print shop will have an error and they refund me for that. Customer service on average takes me about 20 minutes a day. I have lots of saved replies, for common asked questions which saves me a ton of time! Hope this helps!

I'm not sure what's happening lately with POD but I haven't received any refund request and my overall journey on (about 2yrs) I ha e very little refunds... normally from ppls mistake like not reading description and size chart and tips. The few quality ones, the pod just replaced... customers were happy.

I literally do not have the money to spend out on ads like she does. This os discouraging to me because how else am i suppose to get traffic to my store

She didn’t start out spending that much. You don’t have to run ads to make profit. It’s just another way to scale when you start making profit

@rileighrichardson4962 I was just about to say this and your comment was already here. I started running ads right out the gate and it has brought a few sales but nothing major (yet), so i think it's really just 1 part of a complete strategy and plan. And she teaches a complete strategy. Expectations are key. Hang in there OC (original commenter).

Hey there! Please don't be discouraged! On my channel I share my whole story and I didn't start playing with ads until I was making a few thousand dollars a month... So that means I grew my shop WITHOUT ads. You can get yourself seen with more listings in niched down areas that have well market researched design elements. I was living paycheck to paycheck when I started out and didn't even feel I could try a dollar a day on ads! When you are ready to dapple with them I give all I have learned about them in my ads tutorial videos so you can check those out when you are ready! I think you need to watch this video next! kzitem.info/news/bejne/xX-VsWSEq2uIaG0

you definitely don't NEED ads to get sales. Ads merely increase your existing sales because your item gets shown to more eyeballs, they won't help sell something that people don't want to buy. So you need to first figure out how to make designs that people are interested in and things will start happening.

So many good replies already. I started with $1 a day and now I'm at $5 a day. Just when I think I'm going to turn them off I learn something new & decide to leave them on.

You are so motivational, Shawna! I'm on month 12 of my shop being open and I'm finally making a little bit of profit. I'm so excited to see where the next year takes me! Right now I'm watching your vids to help me get out of bed and go list.

Month 19 now, and I'm back getting inspired again! This month has been much more profitable for me than even last Q4 was, so I'm excited to get ready for this Q4 and see a lot of growth in my shop!

Honestly this video really confused me I can't tell if you made any profit or not in those two months it sounded like you did and then when you put in the advertising costs you broke even or lost money. So did you make $8,000 profit and what the other month was or did you make negative
@shawnalynn2083

Hi there! So sorry you felt confused. Those profit numbers were after advertising and POD costs. Bottom line... About 16,000 profit in August and 8,000 profit in September. When I do my numbers reports I get many questions from the more advanced shop owners about what role ads played into the growth to the shop so I wanted to include that. I'll be sure to make sure I mention super clear next time I talk about ads that the profit numbers I am sharing are AFTER this is already accounted for.
