Thanks for this, it was very interesting. With regards to other fitness influencers on KZitem and elsewhere, I think the problem with them tends to be that they become somewhat detached from "the average Joe" when it comes to fitness, bodybuilding and so on. They become so used to training for their own needs and the way above average people they help train, that they lose sight of what is helpful or good for us mere mortals.

Great video man! I am just like you, can't sleep on an empty stomach and tend to eat a lot each meal. I started 1 week ago doing one meal a day on the week days and 2 meals (16/8) on the weekends. I tried doing 36h fast but it doesn't really work for me because I can't really sleep on an empty stomach. I have IBS so the low calorie sweetners are a no go for me as well, which makes food choices a bit harder. Also, I started taking L glutamine and it is a miracle for recovery, I can go full blast in the gym and not be totally wrecked the next day. I would be happy if I got half your results! Currently at 25%BF. Thanks for the video!

Solid video, respect for your diet discipline. Most people are aware about DHA/EPA, but why is arachondic acid not of a similiar concern? The research about this lacking imho. You could argue most people get more LA than ALA (more precursors), but this is not always given. I could choose macadamia nuts as my primary fat source and have almost no LA in my diet ;)
@Solomon_Nelson

Thanks man. Also, you raise an excellent point. My understanding was that arachidonic acids aren’t essential, hence why I didn’t emphasize them my diet (and besides, I get in enough of them when I’m not dieting); but my wisdom might be outdated. What do you think?

Great video, crazy to me that you lost 9kg considering you looked pretty lean before. Refreshing new take, tired of fitness youtubers spewing so much overly negative bs and giving shit advice to normal lifters. Also great physique, I think any non-delusional guy would be super happy too look like that (I know I would). Sick of drug abusers calling non-abusers natty. We don't call non coke-addicts for not-fuckups, there is no reason too because most people aren't. Sadly so many fitness youtubers take drugs, so we feel that we have to label the ones who don't. Brilliant video, as always! Yes please do make a video on the protein fluff!!! Are there any concerns for blood pressure, or blood sugar levels with a more aggressive dieting approach? As in, did you feel light headed or anything at all during the 8 weeks? I know absolutely nothing about it, so I'm just interested if this is a potential issue or not
@Solomon_Nelson

Thank you my friend! I appreciate that. Also, that’s a good question. I can only speak to my own experience: I was fine, other than some extra lightheadedness after hard sets of squats/deadlifts/rows. That is, the lightheadedness was a bit exaggerated while I was dieting compared to normal.

Great breakdown vid! Quick Q about strength during the cut - you mentioned the weighted pull up PR, but how did your pressing strength hold overall? For me I find that pressing (especially bench) starts dropping down quick while cutting. I'd be real surprised if you were coming close to your 100kg x 10 bench press on those cals :) Cheers
@asprinklingofclouds
Ай бұрын
I think that bench press strength is a better arbiter of overall strength than pull up strength whilst on a cut, with the latter you are losing weight so would be expected to at least handle the same added weight, if not improve it. The bench press will make any strength changes transparent.

I’ve gotten ripped several times but every time I try to maintain my results I end up massively overeating and end up undoing my progress in a few weeks. Tips?
@Solomon_Nelson
8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I’m very sympathetic to your question, and I have a lot of thoughts on the matter. On a technical level, it really just comes down to controlling calorie intake; but you probably already knew that. Practically, you need some kind of system to keep you on track-almost as if you’re still dieting, but without as much energy restriction-because otherwise, it’s easy to balloon in weight. The system has to be individualized. My own system is to track calories and macros even while at maintenance, but that’s not an approach that’s feasible for many. If you can afford it, then I can try to help you develop a system of your own in a one on one consultation.

Is that really that much difference than Mike Isratel's mini cut advice? Now, he suggests that if you are a strength athlete, this is a bad idea, and that for most people a mini-cut will be difficult to sustain for longer than 6 weeks, but consider the wider audience. You're talking about the difference of 2 weeks - the greater concern is that someone thinks they can go on this kind of diet to lose 40 kg or more. (Simon "Goliath" Lafontant, just featured on Will Tennyson's channel, is doing this, and it looks unhealthy as hell.) How long are you planning to stay at maintenance before starting to build again?
@Solomon_Nelson
8 ай бұрын
Yes, Mike Israetel’s advice is different to mine with respect to how aggressive cuts should be carried out, most notably on the training front. I plan on making some videos that are critical of Mike’s advice. Stick around :) My plan is to maintain at least until my photoshoot.

"How I Got Ripped in 8 Weeks" Two words: "rim lighting". Those pictures were clearly taken in pretty close succession, it's just that one is lit from the front and one is lit from the side. This creates greater contrast, shadows, and causes your muscles to be *visible* . The other difference is the white balance. In reality he's basically the same level of buff in both pictures.
@thisusedtobeme

Exactly. I see no physical differences in the two photos.
@BaremetalBaron

You're right that I should have taken the before and after pictures in the same lighting. I failed to touch on this in my video; my apologies. However, there's a clear difference between the before and after pictures regardless of the lighting, and I take issue with your implication that I'm lying/deceptive (you write, 'those pictures were clearly taken in pretty close succession'). I could have done a better job of the pictures, for sure, but the transformation is real. If you care to peruse, then you can check out the videos I uploaded from within the timeframe I outlined where you can see the visual changes taking place in my face, for example. Maybe that'd provide a more objective picture of my results.
