Whoa, I love the painting! It's really beautiful! And the scenery at the end of the mist and the clouds is breathtaking! I like that you use this mantra to help you during those hard days. I will keep that in mind for myself too. Thank you for sharing how you get through self defeating thoughts and showing overall how you get through the dark days because you are surely helping people who are going through the same thing. Big hugs Frederike and have a lovely week!

'Nothing days, 'stuck in freeze mode'... this is the first time I've heard anyone really describe something I've struggled with at times in my life (the past few days being one of those times). It's taken me till I'm 56 to have this explained to me by a gentle soul, probably more than young enough to be my daughter! You have a wisdom I couldn't have dreamt of at your age. This must be evolution 😃. Thank you for sharing all this, and thank goodness I am Not my thoughts 🤗. Bless you, and I shall now subscribe 😊

Hello Frederike! Loved the group of photos with all the positive slogans at the beginning. I know what you mean by the negative thoughts - they creep into my head, too. It sounds like you know how to deal with them and recover. Loved the watercolor waves - such intense colors, and the portrait is awesome.

This 20 minutes flew by Frederike 💫 I enjoy your videos so much! Thank you for sharing your truth. The fact that you filmed even when you weren't feeling your best reminds me that I don't have to wait until I'm "perfect" to show up for my creative self or to share with others. Wow, I love your mantra and that really resonates for me right now. I'm so grateful you shared this and the book you are listening to with your partner sounds so helpful! Hmmm lately I am noticing that my thoughts can spiral into severe self criticism.. of my past self as well as my current self. 😑 I have been cultivating awareness around this and I will definitely be using the mantra you've shared. 💛 The portrait you created is so beautiful!! 😍 I love the colors and the softness of it! You Can create art yes!! ✨️ Also, I loved the music choices in this video and can we talk about your amazing drone footage?!! It is incredibly beautiful where you are (though I'm sure cold and you are ready to see Spring! 🌱). I am sending you a big hug! Little Bean and I watched this together and he sends his love too😉 🐈⬛️💕

Ohh Yenny, it's wonderful to hear from you, thank you so much for writing to me! Honestly, I've taken a step back from KZitem, ''watching'' wise. I make videos, but otherwise, I don't spend much time here or on any social media anymore, which brings such a sense of peace and presence. I hope you and you're beautiful family are doing well! I keep you in my thoughts and send you all my love. Your comment made my day!! ❤🙏

We are in Spring but honestly it is trying but not yet there , we only have the wind and rain showers so far with a one day of summerly weather , just like next Saturday it will be 24°C but from Sunday back to 13°and rain .... , I think we are all in need of light and sun to uplift our spirit and drive . Your dogs are so cute , they can be such good company and great in feeling our mood . Those sea paintings look great and I was glad to see your into portraits again , thàt's the spirit !! I hope you found the info on your IG message I've send . A little bit patience and we will enjoy the beautiful Spring soon 🤞✊🌸 I wish you a good week ahead 🍀

It definitely messes with the brain a little, all these ups and downs with the weather. Especially after such a long time where everything is pretty much dead haha my mom taught me this phrase the other day: Maart roert zijn staart maar April doet wat hij wil. I don't know why but I keep hearing these words in my head😅 Thank you so much for your encouraging words, I'll keep working on those portraits till I understand it. Even if it'll take me years. I'll check out IG right away, thank you for writing to me!! I wish you a wonderful week ahead too and hope you get to enjoy proper springtime soon!🤗☀🌻

I am just 4 minutes in, but before I forget - I am not into mantras, as such. But I do remember a flash of insight I had around the time when I first became a Christian at age 18. (I'm in my 50s now.) It wasn't so much about the overthinking. (Though I am exactly that way too!) But about my emotions. I didn't HAVE to be a slave to my feelings. As you say, they are not me. At least, they're not ALL of me. If I was feeling sad or hopeless, I didn't HAVE to wallow in it. I sure didn't have to make everyone around me miserable too. If I was angry, I didn't HAVE to yell or throw things or hit the wall until I hurt my hands. (Which... I am embarrassed to say I often did. I don't want to think about how many hairbrushes I broke that way.) I could feel things, yes. We can't help what we feel. But I didn't HAVE to do ugly actions, say ugly words, have a bad attitude around everyone, etc. Feelings come and go. They're temporary. They may be an appropriate reaction to the situation. Or they may be a huge overreaction to a situation. Just the realization that they did not HAVE to control me was such a burden lifted.

There is so much wisdom in your words, thank you for writing this to me! Yes, you're absolutely right - we don't have to act on our emotions or thoughts. We can choose our reaction, and our decision has a tremendous effect on what happens after. I love what you say, that we don't have to be a slave to our emotions. Thank you!!!

I don't know if this would ever help you at all, but my art teacher in high school taught us the method where, if you are copying from a photo, you draw the checkerboard lines on the photo and on the paper you are drawing/painting on. Then you either cover up the whole photo except for one square. Or, if you're really disciplined, you just don't look at the rest of it. You only look at one small square at a time and draw only what you see in that small square, without thinking (yet) about how it connects to the whole. It's a bit more difficult when working from actual objects or living things instead of photos. But it can still be done, by hyper-focusing on only one tiny portion at a time and drawing ONLY that. Or, he'd make us draw from photos that were upside down. Both methods force your brain to 1) focus only on the pencil/brush strokes you're making, and 2) remove the emotion from it. Your brain is no longer processing what you're seeing as things that are "supposed" to look a certain way. Since you are no longer thinking of how the whole thing is supposed to look, you end up drawing only what you actually SEE, not what you are expecting to see. That expectation and all the emotions/insecurities associated with it, are removed.

Ohh this is a wonderful idea, I love the thought of these practices. It sounds like something I really need. To focus on something small and a part of a bigger whole, yet focusing only on one part at a time. Maybe it can help to let go of the expectation of a finished piece. Even better it might help to actually observe and ''look'' properly, learning how to see like an artist, if that makes sense. Thank you for the tip!!
