As with pretty much anything we do in our lives, failing is required to learn. If observant, you learn what "not" to do. Even though I know this to be a fact, it doesn't make making those mistakes easier, and then identifying how to learn from them is an even bigger challenge. This is often the stage where people give up, including myself in the past. But something I learned when this happens, take a moment to step back from your work. This can be done however you find comfortable. For me, I'll typically do a combination of these three things. 1. If I'm frustrated, step away even for a day or two to help refresh my perspective. Even changing what you draw or draw with might help here. 2. Observe my work and try to identify why I'm making mistakes 2.5 a good way to do this is to walk yourself through your drawing process. Explain to yourself as if you are explaining to someone new. Either during or after ask yourself "why" you drew it like that. I found this process to be huge in figuring out where I'm going wrong. Often, I would realize I would follow a tutorial to the "T" but never grasp "why" the tutorial said to do it that way And/or I would learn that I would either not know how to, or that I was just simply skipping that step and not realizing. Anyway, I hope this can help someone.

Everything comes to my mind when it's something challenging. Edit: that such a nerd quote was just too good lmao, the worst thing is that's literally myself, I'm such a nerd also and still blaming those poor people like me 😅

Just saw this my friend! I do apologize. Working on a video soon teaching how I draw bodies start to finish. So stay tuned. In terms of anatomy books, morpho series is a good one.

If you're not struggling and you're getting bored, you're not learning and it is time to study some of your favorite artists' work.
