*CRITICAL* note when assembling boba switches (from Gazzew): *MAKE SURE THAT STEM IS PRESSED DOWN TO CLEAR THE LEAF BEFORE YOU SNAP THE TOP ON* When assembling switches its very important to follow this process - _if you don't you'll risk damaging leaf_ 1. Stack all parts but don't snap on top (Base + spring + stem + top) 2) Hold switch with pins against index/middle finger, and stem/top against thumb 3) Make sure top is aligned correctly on base (4 lock arms in base lock arm slots) 4) Use thumb to press down stem until it bottoms out (but don't apply pressure to top) 5) When confirmed that stem has bottomed out in base, using thumb widen pressure to included top -- snap top down onto switch base 6) Confirm that the 4 lock arms are all snapped down (none are riding high that would cause non-uniform top-to-base alignment) 7) Press/release stem a couple of times to confirm functionality

I love the bobas, my fav switch. They don't need switch films due to the tight fit of the stems. Personally I stem swapped for Invyr UHMWPE linear stems with 60g bottom out springs. I would love to try the Naevy UHMWPE stems in the Boba housing at some point.

For the price, the quality of his switches competes with the more hyped. There’s a large group experimenting with these switches on the frankenswitch subreddit.

Also wondering how the spring weight on the linear should compare to the tactiles… Anyway, thanks for another great video. I’m sold. 20:32 more aggressive than the halo clears but less tactile than holy pandas. I'm not sure what aggressive means? If it refers to tactility, shouldn't halo clears and holy pandas have the same tactility? Or is there another factor than the legs on the stem for tactility? When I watch youtubers explain about tactility, they only talk about the legs on the stem.

You know, I got these switches a few months ago, and they sorta feel like better membranes. Silent and tactile, but less mushy and smoother feeling For what it's worth, I never had issues with the switches feeling stuck with OEM caps when hitting them on the corners or sides (got the same clear tops style from RGBKB), and I really like them stock.

do you have exparience with the g-lube? one of my options is a gmmk compact, gat reds lubed with g-lube, kbdfans nordic pbt keycaps/hyperX pbt pudding caps. gmmk like 80, gat reds 40, lube 10, kbdfans pbt keycaps 50 + all the shipping. does it sound moderately good? i know it isn't really top, but i can't really have anything better right now. can you recommend me any good gateron/kailh switches that aren't yellows? like the most basic ones, what linear would you get? when i get my setup, i will game on it probably 90% of the time.

I use a small screwdriver to open Kailh type switches. I find the opener much harder to use. Just insert a very small flat head screw driver in each flap (like you did for the Cherry-style). Pops off when you do both sides. It takes a lot less pressure than the opener, IMO.

Just in case anyone wants to know gazzews method of lubing these and his newer u4/u4t switches is to use a light lube krytox for example, hell even water it down with another lube i believe to reduce the viscosity. I have some really good low viscosity paintball lube i personally love using for mine. But what gaz recommends is using that lube uve acquired across the stem and spring no need to oil or bag lube. You donut dip the springs (get a good coating of lube on the bottom that looks like a donut, roughly the bottom compressed part and maybe another wind or two above them. Plop that back in and then lube the inside part of the stems rails and not the squishy pads on the bottom or the tactile part that interacts with the leaf spring. Slide the stem up and down to let it lubricate/evenly spread it. Reassemble and be careful not to forget to keep the stem bottomed out the entire time your put the switch housing pieces back together.

My wallet is now empty and it hurts but i am pretty hyped for my second board! It will be my first tactile board and i am pretty hyped for feeling the bump! I dont see the point of these tactile switches where the bump is at the top of the stroke. The whole point of a tactile bump is to have the bump at the actuation point so you can feel where the key press actuates to train your fingers not to bottom out through muscle memory. The bump being at the top is useless as you know you have pressed the key and don't need a bump to remind you...
