One thing I’m changing in 2024 is finding new ways to get daily movement and much more walking…also I’m giving myself a bedtime because I’ve been out here staying up like I’m a teenager and wondering why I’m struggling throughout the day 😂

God is good girl. This year i’m working on getting back to plant based eating. I’d stayed away from it cooking for 5 people, trying to find something everybody liked was just too stressful. But i’m focusing on myself this year lol so better eating, consistent workouts, and a skin care routine. Along with continuing to build on my relationship with God ❤

This is so good, you have no idea (or maybe you do, LOL!) I felt led to pray about my taste buds as well. I was wondering why I just could not discipline myself and get it together, but I am learning that I control my body. God have us the ability to tell our body what to do. Body you will consume healthy foods and foods that glorify God! I even asked God to give me a zeal for working out. Good Stuff!

Love this video! Been vegan for 7 years and am now trying to remove some of the processed foods even if they are clean. Also have reevaluated my supplements and am committed to more movement this year including strength training. Just decided to give Kombucha a try again as well. I love this video and your personal updates. I to find that getting vitamins from the foods isn’t as mainstream as supplements. Golden milk, matcha and I take all the mushrooms chileeee in a supplement is literally my holy grail. And know which vitamins to take that can support my cycle syncing. I love the fact that listening to our bodies we will know what we need. For me I recognized I was disassociated with my body and once I started connecting with it, it changed the game also. My top things is movement, nutrition, image and rest and what that looks like for me

I need to pray that prayer too; I feel like I have so many opportunities to eat better and just have not been inclined to. Hopefully, the holy spirit will move miraculously and adjust my taste buds. Re: fermented food, i realized it is an acquired taste, especially as it is not popular in western diets. The more sour the better for me lol. My goal this year was to improve my skin so being consistent with my probiotic and my korean skincare routine has dramatically improved my skin

So wonderful for you to be so in tune with the things your body does not want in it. The high sugar and sodium products are the ones I had to kick to the curb. I’m vegan, but I realize that it’s not enough to just be vegan. We have to eliminate the processed foods and eat wholesome foods fresh fruits and vegetables. I did 50% of these! Prioritized my gut health, listened to my body more and cut processed foods and went back to mainly whole food plant based. I found that during the summer my body craved hydrating and raw foods, so that’s what I gave it. Found a kombucha that I actually enjoyed and started drinking it regularly.

I love this video so much. Thank you for being transparent about your health and workout struggle and mindset. So I love that you said you’re praying for God to change your appetite! I’m definitely asking God to do that for me. My downhill be at night so this is so good. I workout every day. Try playing worship music on while you workout or watch “better together” on KZitem. When I’m On the treadmill, I watch them. When I’m working out (strength training, etc) I do Heather Robertson’s free program both on KZitem. It’s helped me so much with moving my body. Now my prayers have to change! I love this and thank you for this! ❤

I love this video and I’ve seen many of yours. This one resonates with me. I’m more WFPB but I also have Multiple Sclerosis(MS). I’ve missed walking 4 miles a day but I prayed and I’m going to start using my walker daily to get 20-30 minutes of movement in a day. I’m going to do it in my backyard or cul-de-sac. I’m a weekly shopper and budget spender with groceries so when trying new things, it can add up very quick when having to buy so many ingredients at a time. Both options mentioned would be great in my opinion. I would love to see how I can use the same ingredients for breakfast, lunch & dinner and/or to create 2-3 meals incorporating the same base ingredients. However whichever direction your creative mind chooses, I’m grateful for. Thanks again!

It took me about two years to try kombucha. I’ve seen it in the store and would quickly walk past it, but I’ve actually learned to enjoy it. I’m fighting a terrible cold right now, and it’s telling me that I need to build up my immune system! Our bodies are definitely temples. What we put in has a major impact on nearly everything: thoughts, sleeping habits, energy, emotions and how we engage with others.

Shakayla, Thank you for your videos. I like it when you share what you have learned because then it motivates me to want to do research for myself and learn as well. As somethings you have spoken about like taking supplements on top of what you are eating and possibly already through the food getting the nutrients you need in the food not needing so many supplements. I have started to revisit my journey also with the use of supplements, as at times you may need one supplement one time and then again later you may not need it. Also, listening to my body. Life can get so busy that we become desensitized to what our bodies are telling us which I am a victim of. And for me it can be very bad as I have Sickle Cell Anemia. And in the course of detoxifying my body and eating cleaner whole foods I was more aware of the warning signals before an impending crisis. I became more mindful of the triggers and such and sensitive to the subtle hints of my body saying "Girl, honey chile if you don't stop doing what you are doing, it's about to go down.." I have learned alot but need to be more responsible in not forgetting and to make it my responsibility to take what I have learned and continue to apply and adjust. So thank you, you talking about it has made me want to be more mindful of not forgetting all that I have learned and keep rolling with it to do better or make necessary adjustments as I continue to learn more about myself and my body living Sickle Cell Anemia.

I tried to go plant based with my battle with uterine fibroids which led up to avoiding soy and too many things. You really have to do what works for you and listen to your body. Hello Shakayla, I love your channel, I’m having hard time to stick to healthy food, being highly levelled in bad cholesterol I must eat more greens more salads which I’m not crazy about it unless I add not so healthy dressing, do you have a good suggestion how to make healthy taste good salad dressings
