I can’t stop buying. I’m all in ever since Jeff Wilson said almost 2 years ago, we were in the basement (FYI, cards are still tanking)……..we are in a recession and cardboard don’t pay the bills, so, I’M ALL IN ON CARDBOARD!!!!!

Part of why I like to collect hockey is you can get some really nice cards of good players for dirt cheap. Makes collecting a lot more fun.

I haven’t bought a card all year and won’t next year either. I still have interest and follow the news but there is so much dust around the hobby I want it to settle before I get back into it.

I use to. Buy cards in the early 90s with my dad. Picked up the hobby again a few weeks ago and am only buying what I want to hold forever and don’t mind if I lose value on. Definitely avoiding breaks and paying way more than what the average sold prices go for.

I am buying a lot. Have been seeing great prices on late 90's inserts that I PC. The sets I collect don't come up often, so I will take advantage while I can 😅

I recently just put a complete halt on buying sport cards all together. The hobby isn't a hobby anymore, if it ever was. The corruption, the slime bag influencers and repackers, the shadiness of how product gets distributed, etc. has made me determine that the hobby is more of a scam now than it has ever been and nobody is winning with the exception of the criminals.

I'm discouraged in buying boxes. if i can't get a breakers delight box, all else is a waste of money. My opinion. I have only cards I desired. I'm not buying just to buy.

I think Fanatics' strategy is going to be precisely what you're trying to avoid - impulse buying. Every other week Topps is announcing some kind of special set it seems like. Travis Scott and Big Apple-fractors this week.

Always fun to have a cheap pc to add to on top of having a more valuable one as well. For football I go after college auto’s of Washington State University QB’s and Eastern Washington University players. Not many of either and not very expensive to boot. I can spend $20> and get a great addition every couple of weeks. The few big ones are $50 or less. Then after saving slowly over the course of months pop off on a big card that I try to be very specific about.

I also wonder how the young kids pull out cards worth thousands. When I grew up we’d get $5/week to buy a pack of cards.

Because all they do is flip. Kids arent getting into the hobby to collect anymore. They're influenced by guys like Geoff wilson and cc2 to chase the almighty dollar, so they flip cards. It's why long term, this hobbys dead because it's not creating new collectors, it's running the old ones off.

I agree with this video and your main point. I’d love to see more KZitem content about the way 98% of us collect. It’s cool to see people making trades worth more than a house a few times… but after that I’d rather see more relatable content And of course, getting spending under control is an important message even if the card companies would want people blowing crazy money on wax
