In this video, I talk about how I made my Anki decks from FirstAid as well as test question. It is definitely a labor intensive process, which is why I suggest you start early. However, I think in the long run it is worth it. I have three friends that scored a 265+, and ALL THREE made their own flashcards. For me, the disadvantage of the pre-made decks was that I could not remember anything that I studied. My brain was literally teflon. All new information just slid right off. I could do the same card for what felt like 1000 times and still have no idea what the enzyme deficiency was in Hurler's syndrome. By making my own cards it forced me to think about the information as I formulated a question, even if it was just a simple one.
I made really only three kinds of cards:
(1) Information card: this was the bulk of my decks and involved all the fun facts you need to know for the most important test of your life.
(2) Occluded image card: mostly for anatomy or charts
(3) Missed test question cards: I always made cards for every answer choice that I did not now.
