I believe the harder it is to get into ,the more damage they cause. I manage a carwash in Las Cruce, NM. What has been working for is being consistent with my camera monitoring. I let them know they are being watched. It has been some long nights at times, but it has paid off. Best of luck!!

I think the @lockpickinglawyer would approve of your lock choice. At least the Squire lock, not that Master Lock rubbish. I hear good things about PACLOCK also.

You need good cobalt drill bits for stainless. Start small like 1/8" then go up to a bigger one. These holes are small enough that you only need two sizes. Drill with a lot of pressure and go slow or you'll burn up the bit. DO NOT use a center-punch on stainless or you'll create a work hardened spot right where you want to drill.

It is sooo sad it is necessary to put 4 locks on a trash door

I'm gonna bet that having so many locks is gonna make it seem like there's something valuable in there which will entice someone to try and break in that much more. Unfortunately.

Welcome back Edwin. I see you even have Chris picking up a few Spanish words, good job. Drill hog m42 is a pretty good drill bit set if your looking for something that seems to hold up well. Amazon I think carries them too. A little oil and slow speeds while drilling medal will keep them sharp for a long time. Great video gentlemen. How's the new carwash coming?

Another great video -- Thankyou! I just closed on my first wash last Thursday and you've been a huge influence. For the drill bits, get Carbide bits, and use a little cutting oil. Stainless is notoriously tough to cut or drill and you need the tough bits... This comes from snapping hundreds of different bits over my life :)

For people wondering why someone wants to open the trash bin door, it's because they may have vacuumed up something valuable by mistake, like a ring, money, a key etc.

That’s why we have our contact info on our car wash. We’ll come down get it for them instead of doing it the illegal way of breaking in and property damage. We’ll be there in 10 minutes vs an hour of them breaking it. 🤷♂️

Whats to stop a crack head from drilling out those rivets? Food for thought if that happens i would have those parts tig welded all the way around to stop them. And a tig weld looks so nice.

Why is it rare for a car wash vacuum to have a bill acceptor for cash? Is that just to make it less of a target for theft? We do have one car wash that actually has vacuums that accept cash. The weird thing about this car washes if you buy a car wash you're entitled to use the free vacuum the runs continuously for 5 minutes

The tweakers breaking into car wash vacuum cleaners aren’t picking locks. They brute force break in and probably rarely mess with the actual lock.

Quick question your title says making your machine thief proof right?? So digging threw trash looking for something good is stealing? You was ok with it until they had a bad habit of not latching the door back!! See how that works for ya,,

If the door is open vac doesn’t work. The thieves leave it open so I have to lock it closed. They destroy the vacuum trying to take lock and hinge off. Need to make as secure as possible. Got nothing to do with them taking the trash. It’s trash. Car wash owners understand
