If one happens to visit or lives in Vancouver BC, there is a place called the African Fair Trade Society that has shea butter in bulk and otherwise. I like the company. I order by mail. I love shea butter. I have never whipped my mixes. No idea why I didn't think of it, but I use shea in deodorant recipes, lip remedies, and skin applications. I wish I had started to use it when I was young and exposed too much my skin to harsh near equatorial sun.

Very insightful, just got some questions: 1. How long do you wait for the oil to cool? 2.How long can you store the cream before it goes bad?
@andtea4558

1. 2 hours (Could be longer if you didn’t have chunks and was completely melted) 2. Shea butter last 2 years when properly stored so it depends which oils you add to it

Just for anyone who has eczema: This is a GREAT recipe. The only thing I would say coming from someone who had it really bad, I DONT recommend essential oils. If you have a brand that doesn’t irritate your skin, by all means use that. But be careful.
@iamroyalty29
Жыл бұрын
Hello. Do you have a recommendation for fragrance that will not irritate eczema?
@littlecloudinthebluesky
11 ай бұрын
@@iamroyalty29 YES 🙌 So what I would say is using something like maybe coconut oil if you like the smell of it, or shea butter. That gives it a nice scent. But for other scents like say lavender, lemon, citrus, etc. I recommend diluting essential oils. This is no where near as complicated as it sounds 😅. I just recommend getting your favorite ECZEMA SAFE moisturizer and some water. You can use the moisturizer from this recipe, but if you have something that doesn’t have shea butter in it , that would be best because the smell of the shea butter might overpower the essential oils, especially in diluted form. What you need to do is just take about a tablespoon of HOT water. VERY important that it’s hot. Then take whatever essential oil you would like and drop about 5 drops into the water. This will fill the water with scent, but dilutes the oil enough so it does it irritate your skin. If you have a bigger quantity of moisturizer than, say a Cera Vae moisturizer pump bottle, I would recommend using about 2 tablespoons of this substance, depending on how scented you want it to be. But BE CAREFUL to NOT add too much of the substance or else you moisturizer will become watery and less helpful for your skin. I hope this helped! And sorry it’s so long 😅

-Shea butter , cut it up so it’s easier to melt. -heat up water for double boiler , don’t overheat or else when whipping it won’t whip properly - add jojoba oil , coconut oil , vitamin e oil ,baobab seed oil , castor oil , essential oils ( you pick which ones u want :D ) -mix and freeze it for 25 mn - take out freezer once you have a vaseline texture , whip until you get a whipped cream like texture ( about 5-15 min) all depends how thick it is - add arrowroot powder if you want less greasy butter - store in an airtight container

I love your video. Well done. The only query I would add is vitamin e oil is not a preservative nor a natural preservative. It is an antioxidant that prevents the oils from going rancid or extends its shelf life. It doesn't prevent the growth of mold or bacteria which is why products that have water or aqueous solution in the ingredients or may be get water into the product via the user, need a preservative.
@isabellaekins8618

From personal experience, shea is wonderful on the face - only ad jojoba oil as olive oil may be too heavy and apply in the evening. Yes, it will feel greasy, but it's wonderful on the skin. Shea is non-comedogenic and won't clog the pores, and jojoba oil is very facial skin friendly (I have sensitive and dry skin).
@leilahannah4806
5 ай бұрын
Just a tip for everyone - Coconut oil has quite a high comedogenic score which means it might not work for those prone to clogged pores, acne, etc. Each carrier oil has a score you can look up but most of the others seem to be fine. Jojoba oil is great for balancing oil production x

Hi Lucia, I'm not sure if you've tried to make this again but I've just made it and here is what I've found. As Rachel said, let the Shea butter cool down a bit. I was really impatient but I found standing the bowl with melted Shea butter in another bowl with ice cold water in it really helped whilst I whipped it up. This helps the mixture to cool faster. You'll still have to whip it for 20 minutes or so but you'll definitely see it coming together. Wear an apron! Also put down some paper or tea towels when you're whipping otherwise you'll get lots of splashes of mixture everywhere! Also make sure the bowl you're mixing in is quite deep as this will double in size AT LEAST! Make sure you have enough containers to hold the finished butter. It will increase in size. I added 2 capfuls of Castor Oil which was fine but maybe 1 or 1.5 would have been enough. For reference, I used 500g of solid Shea butter, 2 capfuls of castor oil with 20 drops of essential oil and it whipped up beautifully! Good luck! 😊👍
