Thank you so much for this! Sometimes a tune I've translated onto the whistle can sound empty without backing... Other times it sounds great though. Thank you for opening up this option!! ❤❤ xx

@@CutiepieTinWhistle All I learned about music, I learned from you. I knew nothing about music, can't read a note, can't remember the letters that go with what tab, (D, C, B, etc.), I can do the tabs. I am just happy all over the place to have found you. That you teach this for free gave me everything to finally play (or at least try to play) an instrument I love. I am for ever grateful to you, Lady Stef! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hello CutiePie, could you do a video on improvisation and coming up with your own melodies? If not could you give some advice on this topic? Thanks :]

As your own original music? Or to play alongside existing music? Improvising with an existing tune is quite different to making up a new one from scratch.

@CutiepieTinWhistle Original music. I'm very new to music so it all seems very overwhelming. I wanna be able to improvise within specific genres on the spot. Is this something that just comes naturally after playing for so long? Or is there a specific learning guideline I have to follow? Like I can hear tunes I make up in my head, but my fingers and mind have 0 idea how to translate that into playing it on the tin whistle. Thanks for your help!

@@NoahSBX if you're planning to improvise to an existing piece of music, you ideally need a bit of music theory knowledge, but I do have a few videos that might be helpful. Otherwise, you're looking more at 'composing' tunes. I don't have a video on that yet but I can make one. I don't really have any expertise on that though 😅 but I'm sure there are existing KZitem videos about it. Ok so I'm old school pencil paper and ear, but this is for sure a brilliant way of arranging. Have to learn this. With everything digital it's refreshing to hear that your ear has the final say! 👂 Would this be a great help for writing harmonies? Maybe four squares are common 4/4 time and 3 squares are for tunes in 3/4 or compound time like 6/8 ? BTW Wild Mountain Thyme is a beautiful song on any instrument. Got to go, working on that Polka for next week, it'll be close. Hope to have something soon. Cheers🙂

Yes that's the timing 😊 but it's just difficult to make alternative time signatures in chordbot from my experience. Not impossible, just more difficult. You can certainly use it for harmonies in some way, especially as you can play one of the notes from the chord underneath the melody.

Thank you for this tutorial! Is it possible for you to show how you create the tabs for the melodies? I tried on my own but failed miserably.... it would be really helpful 😊

I have a video on how to make tabs: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1Y2vwHyusHicgqQsi=Znvufodr2OSdblI8 and one on how to play by ear - which is how I work out the tunes :) kzitem.info/news/bejne/r4-vnIptnoOXpmUsi=l_vBEA6Mdk-16Hji Hopefully that's helpful. x

I started following a few years ago when I was looking for tin whistle recommendations. Just the other day I had to take a virtual interview using a company called HireVue and I was shocked when the lady in the introductory video you! I'm almost positive it was. It's either that or you've got an identical twin somewhere. I'm sitting pointing at my screen going, "I know her from somewhere but where!?" Woman of many talents I see

That's funny! Check out Erik the Flutemaker. He's in the US (Florida) but I'm sure he ships to the UK. He hand makes flutes and tin whistles out of bamboo and other materials. I have one and it plays very smooth. I even got a hand written note with it.
