Thanks for the tutorial, really helpful as I’ve just bought my first Fallschirmjäger figures and I’m struggling on deciding a basing design

Hey Mathew, that's awesome thank you! I'm glad you found the video helpful. Basing can often be a really difficult part to decide on as it really does tie an army/project together. I absolutely love basing my figures and there are many examples of this on the channel. If you need any advice or help don't hesitate to ask buddy 😊

Looks great. Not sure I personally would put the walls on there because of the limitations to the model being usable mainly in urban areas. I like what you did though. It looks sharp.

Cheers, much appreciated! I've actually scaled back how much walls/rubble etc I put on bases like that these days in favour of more clump foliage, tufts etc to make them look more balanced and neutral 😃👍

Great video, thanks for sharing! About how thick is the cork that you've used?

That's awesome thank you and apologies for the delay in responding! The majority of the cork I use is from cork table mats and it is just over half an inch thick 😀👍

Thanks Lawrence and welcome to the world of Bolt Action! In response to your question, no this cover is purely for making my miniatures and bases look interesting. To benefit from cover in the game, you need to use the scenery and cover that is on the tabletop 😀👍

Hi did you do a desert base like your cork bases?
@OnPointHQ
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Bob, yes exactly the same process to make desert bases. There is a video in the how I make playlist called 'How I make simple rocky bases' that outlines how I make rocky desert bases 😀👍

Did I miss the part where you were painting the basing materials after you glued them on? 🤔
@OnPointHQ

Hey Chris, thanks for your comment. It's been a while since I watched that video so I'll have to have a catch up! But if it helps, I'll outline how I go about painting the basing material. For the base in the example I use a more brown colour (Vallejo Burnt Umber is my standard go to brown) and I tend to water it quite heavily to allow it to really soak into the grit and the cork. When this is dry, I drybrush the base using the original colour with a small dab of Sunny Skintone. For the last highlight I add a touch of Ivory and apply this to the extreme edges of walls etc. For more urban basing, like my Stalingrad Germans, I tend to use a mix of Burnt Umber, Dark Rubber and Olive green as a base colour and then apply highlights in the same manner as the previous example. Hope that helps ☺

Top stuff! Glad it helps Chris. I guess you could use any colour that suited your base or where the army is based but with cork, I always use of drybrushing 😊

Do you ‘member where the cork was from?
@OnPointHQ
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob. Yes the cork that I use is mostly cork table mats. These can be picked up for not a lot of money and you normally get between 4 and 6 in a pack. It's also easy to 'halve' them if you want to make them a little bit thinner 😊

what size is the round and square base thanks
@OnPointHQ

Hey Dion - the round base is one of the standard bases from Warlord Games and is 60mm in diameter. The square base is made from laser cut MDF and is 100mm x 100mm :)
