Minimizing your total cost of ownership is a way of saving money but when you look at the bigger picture, it is a way of life. If you buy lots of stuff that depreciates quickly then you are taking a huge depreciation loss every year. If you minimize this, then the amount of net worth loss can be minimized thus preserving the hard earned value you generated through work from evaporating into thin air.
At an advanced level, if you buy at a low enough price and sell it years later (after you finished using it) for the same price, you essentially obtained that item for free.
At an even more advanced level, you can buy multiple items at a low enough cost and immediately sell all but one of them. If you have a good eye for buying the product for a low price, you can often cover the cost of them item that you keep, effectively getting it for free like the examples I gave in the video. Then, you do not even have to sell the product when you do not need it anymore although I still recommend selling it anyway.
