Stop running. You're making your osteoarthritis worse. You don't want to get early onset osteoarthritis, that is when it moves on to a more severe grade. You don't want your future to become a living hell, trust me.

Ah man, has this video popped up at the right time for me. I have to get my meniscus repaired after what the doctor called "extensive damage" and been told 12 months off the road. I'm just a plodder, but running, aside from family, is the best thing in my life. I can't tell you what I've researched as far as treating meniscus injuries and would've seen hundreds of these on youtube. I've just sat down for breakfast on a warm Sunday morning here in Melbourne Australia and opened youtube and your video was the first alert that popped up. I realise my journey will not be a fraction of what you have gone through but your resilience and determination to get back have given me hope. I'm 52 years old, so I don't have a lot of years left running at a reasonably high level of fitness but I'm damn determined to get everything I can out of what I have left. Thanks Rick, you've made a difference to my life.

Nice job, man. Take it slow and don't rush the recovery, and listen to what your body is telling you. Years ago I had a sports accident where I dislocated my ankle and shattered my fibula. I had to have plates and screws put in place and thought I would never run again. I have since recovered and don't even notice the extra hardware. That was 30+ years ago and I'm still running races at 72. Keep us up to date with your recovery, and good luck!

So happy you're back Rick. I certainly haven't been through anything close to an injury of your severity, however I have had significant injuries to my I.T. bad that took months to heal. Every run was painful to excruciating, anything more than 3 to 5k and it felt like my knee would explode. It was miserable...I swam and biked instead, and was careful to stay within my limits. When I was finally on the path to recovery, I and lost so much progress... It was all worth it tho..I'm back now and it feels good. It's scary tho, one bad day can lead to months of pain and uncertainty.

Well done Rick, this is one of life's brutal tests and you clearly down play the impact it's had on your life and wife's stresses, you've been knocked down repeatedly and kept getting back up, brushing yourself down and tried again and again knowing that this simple natural act could make it even worse, put you farther back yet you persevered and it's a credit to you, a strength of character you really should be proud of! Don't rush, use your head as well as heart and I wish you all the best 🤜
