Great analysis Dylan, one thing worth noting with Draper as someone who has watched him live for most of the season is that he has really high level scoring ability and versatility. He starts most games as a half forward, rotating into the centre at the mid way point of quarters. He has a huge work rate and covers the ground very well. He has an impact all over the ground regardless of if he’s just playing at centre bounces or solely as a mid. A lot of the time when he’s playing at HF he pushes up as an extra at stoppages and just explodes. Would love to see the crows steal him at pick 4 if he’s there.

@@catattack_2754 yeah good points! I haven’t watched him as intimately as some of the others. He missed the academy games with injury and then was eased back through the national champs. So I’ve never really seen him play as a fwd. he definitely has a few more weapons than the average mid with his explosiveness and top speed!

Great analysis. If North can’t get FOS with 2. Do you think a trade with Richmond is possible for 6 (Rioli deal) and maybe 17 ? It would give north an extra pick in the top 25. Or do you think there is another mid that is a great fit for us ? I worry about smilie and Langfords speed with North. We are very slow in transition already

what is the real seperation between a daicos, Harley and JHF from Jagga and FOS?
@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
Ай бұрын
@@bacillus5 not to give you a shit answer but it’s hard compare them like for like because they’re so different but I’ll try to compare the apples with apples etc. I think Daicos is the best player in the comp at the 2nd category in my list. Which is essentially, the ball coming off hands and hitting the ground, he’ll react and arrive first more than anybody else. Jagga has this, he’s best in this draft class by far at that. The big difference between he and Daicos is the ball use by foot. He has less penetration and control by foot than Daicos which makes Daicos a better package. So id judge Jagga as a Daicos type, his ball winning is as good but certainly sub Daicos overall. Harley and JHF are more forcefull! They get to the ball drop less than a Jagga or a Daicos, but when they do, they can run straight at goal and they’ll take some stopping so they draw players towards them that opens up gaps. They’re so direct that they get the ball to goal so quickly and it’s harder to defend! This can be more damaging than a Daicos type but it’s also less control. So different players imo. I think FOS is almost in a category of his own up against these guys, he’s a bit explosive like Harley JHF but he’s nowhere near as strong, he’s really penetrative by foot like them but he’s also a better runner than those guys so he can be more of a death by a thousand cuts type player as well as having explosiveness and damage. In the end, it comes down to what you value! I really like the FOS package because he gives you a wide variety of attributes, he’s just probably not the absolute best at any one thing. Hope this helps!

@@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft great answer! I know you said you will be doing a tigers rebuild video. So I am looking forward to see how you would recruit to compliment FOS. Obviously a pairing of Jagga and FOS would be the dream its like they are meant to play together. But I cant see jagga getting to pick 6 ... so maybe Jagga at 1 and Smillie at 6? best of both worlds

Yeah fair, I feel IQ is a little bit broad spectrum though. do you think with the re emergence of the NGA picks is the AFL's response to grass roots and asking clubs to invest more into the academy? Draft get more compromised but more talent is developed
@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft
26 күн бұрын
@@bacillus5 yeah the motivation is really interesting! Of course in the northern states it’s about growing the game. I think the NGA changes, it’s a split between giving Victorian clubs an incentive to grow the game in non traditional communities but also a way to appease their frustrations to the northern academies. I guess the issue with NGA is, each club gets a geographical zone to work within and some zones are probably more favourable than others, So certain clubs would see bigger upside. Personally, I like the restrictions lifted because it encourages clubs to look at different avenues to improve and if that means growing the game, it’s a plus aswell! There’s never really a way of making things completely fair because clubs with more resources will always spend more effectively anyway.
