thanks so much for this, that was nice to read :') the demo is linked in my bio, still very rough and young but you're free to listen to it!

Super authentic and relatable! Breath of fresh air compared to all the polished guitar gurus on yt. Inspired me to look at my neglected demos again. Also props to yt for recommending this vid.

this is so interesting watching another artist go through their process. this is, undeniably, 100% different than anything i do, and i loved watching every second of it.

this was so entertaining but also actually helpful and inspiring. just started trying to record some of the songs i've been writing and this video portrayed the process as something fun and not a chore (which is how i've started treating it ✌😔)

You know, it's really refreshing to hear unpolished music and sometimes I really hate how watered down it becomes in a final mix or with a sound engineer. Artists like Dijon, mk.gee, Clairo, etc. don't really polish too much and leaves jagged edges and that's why I gravitate towards them. I say leave it choppy, adjust for loudness or anything clipping too hard and send it! Sometimes the more raw sound of a demo has more energy and feeling and I think it's refreshing for the listener.

you may be right, i think my brain has two categories: songs where the demo-style works, and songs where the demo style is just too rough. as much as i love the demo on soundcloud, whenever i listen to it, all i can think of is how i can record way better takes and re-produce some sections to sound "cleaner." it probably boils down to a lot of unnecessary perfectionism on my part, who knows. could also be insecurity with me thinking it's TOO rough when in reality it might sound alright for some people. i'm letting this track sit with me for the time being, keeping what you said in mind. anything can happen when you sleep on things! thanks for checking this out

@@NOCTNOCTNOCT I totally feel you! Somewhere in there, a balance between too rough and perfectly clean exists. What you say resonates with me because sometimes I get really caught up in thinking about how other people will hear the mix, but honestly, I've been trying to just mix things how I like them and not care about anything else. Really great video btw, cheers to a life of creating art!
