Seeing this should make the Pokémon player base realize just how much potential this series really has. And mainly the fact that Game freak doesn’t understand that majority of their player base is over the age of 12 and actually wants to see quality games and innovation instead of the almost copy and paste games they seem to love to make (minus sword and shield in recent memory, that was a huge step in the right direction) but the remakes are just a cash grab it this point. I’d love to see them take an extra year or 8 months or so to make an amazing game that can stand the test of time. We don’t need a half ass money grab every single year it just gets old. Anyways those are my thoughts after watching this beautiful video. Thanks for reading my mini essay if you did :)

Haven't watched the video yet but the ultimate flex would be to do any amount of efficiency optimization on the code you used so that you could fit the remade game into less space than is necessary for a Nintendo Switch cartridge. One of Game Freak's biggest shortcomings is and always has been clearly their inability to optimize their code for space. Even as far back as gens 1 & 2 they struggled with this. Though it was very impressive that they managed to fit as much of these games as they did into as little space as is on a GameBoy cartridge, it wasn't until Satoru Iwata came along that they were even able to fit Gen 2 onto the cartridge and he saved so much space that they were able to add Kanto to the games as well. I fully believe that this is entirely possible to do. Bonus points of you add custom "high quality animations" for each Pokemon to use. You'd be an absolute legend if you did so and also managed to fit it into less space than they did.

I think with pre-Gen 7 games (Sun and Moon) the locations are meant to be an abstraction of what the places actually look like, and if they are remade in the game I think they can be changed significantly to at least matches the realistic style - maybe each stair you get to maybe 25 floors each and you'd see the change with more clouds or reference points like building sizes or mountains.

@@NineTailedNaruto98 He did pretty minimal backend coding on this side project. I have done more than this in as little time, it’s pretty easy when you take content off the unreal marketplace, rearrange a map, then code a UI that isn’t even difficult. If you look at the Indie-dev side of the industry you can see that it’s pretty common for solo-developers to take assets from other games or the unreal marketplace and make semi-functioning games with no lag in the span of 5 days. And for him to somehow make this game lag is pretty outstanding, as I’ve made a 5kmx5km forest without any optimization lag less than this. I think people great over estimate how easy it is to make something like this, especially in unreal where the program is mostly just a block building style (it’s called blueprint system, but my friends and I call it block building) where you don’t have to write code. What this guy made would be considered a concept demo, where he could take this to a dev team or investors to prove the concept of a Pokémon game developed on UE4/5 and get the team/funding needed to produce more. From there it would take the normal 2 years to produce it, if not sooner due to the easier coding mechanics of unreal, unless they decide to code in C# or C++ instead due to better development controls
@SupremeLeaderKimJong-un

Your remake was smooth! That object-oriented programming thing is why there are so many Pokémon fan games, Pokémon themselves are shockingly easy to program compared to the intricate enemy ai in many other games. Based on this, I can confirm that the Sky Pillar (Japanese: 空の柱 Sky Pillar) is a building in Hoenn. It is located on the northern edge of Route 131 in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald, and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Rayquaza appears at the top of the Sky Pillar, and in Emerald, it will disappear completely after it has been either caught or defeated. It includes the tower itself, as well as a cave with no wild encounters that is directly connected to Route 131. In the Generation III games, the land on top of the island the Sky Pillar is located on, which is traversed after exiting the cave but before entering the tower, is a part of the Sky Pillar; in the Generation VI games, this area is instead part of Route 131.

I think one thing people forget is that this project is running on a PC and loading a very small segment of the game. In order for a pokemon game of this magnitude to exist seamlessly, Nintendo needs to upgrade their console to PS5 levels and above. The switch cannot handle today's demands and I don't know why Nintendo dont just make 2 variants of the switch? One handheld and another big and stationary. The switch would be an amazing upgrade to the nintendo DS lines as a portable platform. While the non-handheld version would be able to compete with modern consoles by having equivalent or better processing power. Then we wouldn't have major AAA titles like BotW and Pokemon dropping frames like crazy.

Theoretically someone could do this relatively quick with the pokemon minecraft mod. The game mechanics are already all polished for that even with npc trainers/shops and PCs. All someone needs to do is build the areas, place the npcs, and turn routes into biomes and set the pokemon spawning parameters for each route. Definitely doable.

Yeah pretty embarrassing on the pokemon company honestly 😭 especially with all the money they make it’s insane to me they can’t make their games better or at least hire a better company to make these games

Yo nice! I did the same but in Unity, but ended up just creating a first person Pokemon Snap (trailer on my profile). Major kudos on getting the battling system going! The daunting task of getting a battling system is what pushed me to just doing the photo mode. Looking forward to more of this project.

Omfg I've been looking for something like this!! It's shocking how few people have done something like this Please if you're ever able to, it'd be awesome if you made a more in depth breakdown of the blueprints, or if you made the project available to download, cuz I'd personally love to look through the blueprints and see how it all works! Either way this is awesome!

If an indie developer like you could make this so amazing, and GF doesn't, it is obvious there are forces behind each Pokémon production that stop from being high quality. You have made what a Pokémon game should stand for in today standards, simply stunning!
@Lee-qg9fc

I hope this video can show why some parts of Pokemon SV weren't the highest quality they could've been, because yeah, the graphics for this single location that was made are great, but it's not an entire open world, and interactive map, with a storyline that has to branch off of that map, along with 2 other storylines running alongside it. Not only that, but the renewend move animations, the terastalyzation (Not sure if I spelled that right) animations and gameplay, fully animated cutscenes, and so much more all had to be created, optimized, and rendered in (Allegedly) 3 years, which sounds like a lot of time, but for what the team had to make, what we got was pretty damn good, and I think people are overreacting a bit when it comes to the game's quality.
