Thank you so much for taking the time to post this video. It really saved my husband and I. We really wedged a 75 ft snake into our root bound pipe. We were freaking out because the pipe goes under the house and was inaccessible. And it was a rented snake!!! I showed my husband your video, bought a 2 ton cable winch and crossed our fingers. We even used your ladder method. I can't believe it but the snake came out (crimped but at least removed). Your method was our only hope. Thank you again!!!

I just used this same approach with a step ladder standing over a toilet pipe I was cleaning out with a snake that got stuck. Thank you for sharing your solution. It worked as well inside as it did outside.

Well,,, I can appreciate the fact that a guy might try and clean his drain on his own without proper training…. BUT as a professional drain cleaner, the first thing I noticed is , that’s the wrong sized cable and incorrect “blade”.

Thanks for your tip on extracting a stuck sewer snake. It worked like a charm. The snake that I had stuck was inside the master bath room..I was able to make a loop in the snake and duct tape it and put an alligator wrench to help hold the loop. I attached the ratchet hook to the loop and stretched the strap up to the rung of the extension ladder. I was able to position the short extension ladder at an angle over the sewer pipe that had the snake stuck. Cranked the ratchet until I needed to reposition. After loosening the ratchet then reaching down to pull the snake and make a loop the snake came right out! Whew what a relief. Thanks again.

That's not an actual cutter, it'll work great at retrieving objects, which is why you most commonly see that style on a toilet auger. It likes to grab onto things like a cork remover, and it'll grab something you don't want it too! Which is what happened.

As a pro, you are using to small of a ca me and machine to do a mainline. That size is designed for 1 1/4 - 2" lines only and most main sewers are 4"

@@jeffreyschwers175 works great until the snake breaks in half while trying to pull it out. Would never recommend running something that small, more likely it will roll itself into a knot. Not trying to bust your chops or anything, but I run into this all the time and often enough, its time to pull out the jackhammer and remove the section with the snake in it, or hopefully cut on the other end and pull it through.

I have somewhat of a similar problem but I have my waterhose with a water bladder on the end that's got stuck, I may try this method, not sure if the waterhose would tear with the vice grips though, thanks.

My guess is Yeah it probably will tear the hose because it took a lot of cranking on the ratchet strap to pull the snake loose. Good luck.

Thanks, idk what I'm gonna do, i may have to cut the pipe🤦♂️ it won't be the 1st time but I'm dreading it lol. Atleast it's the sink drain pipe this time and not the sewage drain pipe like last time🤷♂️

I wouldn't try to pull the stuck cable with brute force like this -- what if it broke inside the pipe? Why not rotate the snake CCW to unhook the spiral head? Question for any pros: to retrieve a broken snake in the pipe, why they don't sell a snake retriever with CCW spiral head but all of them have CW spiral heads which means you have to turn the retriever CW and this cause the broken snake bite into whatever tighter. To get the broken snake out, I would think you should try to turn it CCW.
