If anyone out there wants to take the DELE (or any exam like that really), something that I want to emphasize to you is time management!! Practice exams help you understand the time limits involved so that you don’t end up over or underestimating what you will accomplish within a certain amount of time. Also, I totally agree that you don’t need these exams. I did the C1 because it helped to motivate me while I was studying abroad, but I don’t think I will ever take the C2 because it was very time consuming and taxing on my mental health. At the end of the day, a piece of paper can only say so much about your abilities, and I honestly think there’s a large difference between a “low C1” and a “high-almost-C2” C1. Not to mention that language learning never really stops; there’s not a certain ceiling that you hit where all of a sudden you say “ok I know everything now”, even if you are considered advanced. Regardless, amazing video as usual :)

How strange, I also recently decided to pick up French after reaching a point where my Spanish learning is mostly input immersion. I've heard that learning French from Spanish is a decent strategy (lots of cognates, helps with maintaining your Spanish, similarities in sentence structure etc.) so I'm currently testing that out. Looking forward to seeing your progress and methods - Bonne chance !

English has a lot of cognates with French. ⅓ of all English comes from French. If you can identify cognates and sound changed then you'll see English Spanish and French are similar. (Yes I know Spanish and French are romance languages and English is a germanic language.) P.S. here's a link to a video you might find helpful. kzitem.info/news/bejne/lHh9x3VpiXVqp4Y

That "I was too scared to look up the thing that I knew I needed to look up" is called avoidance and you are absolutely not crazy or alone in that! I'm still not sure how to get over that besides "If I don't look up this thing I'm scared of, then I'll have to do this OTHER thing that I'm even MORE scared of", like "if I don't start on my spanish lesson then I'll have to go to the grocery store", bc both are healthy and productive bc uggghhhhh I don't wanna do either, but I hate having to go to the grocery store more than I hate doing my spanish lesson lol.

I love your videos about the DELE. I am myself going to take the B2-exam this summer in Spain when I go there on vacation. I don't need to take. It is just for fun and to see if I can actually do it. I'm taking classes on B2-level now, and I have taken classes on A1-A2-B1 the last two years. I also speak with a Colombian spanish teacher twice a week (1,5 hours per class). I'm not working too much on grammar, but I do read a lot of books in Spanish. Some of them also have audio that I can listen to while I read them, which is helpfull. I also try to watch series and movies in Spanish. My exam isn't untill July 1st, but I have gooten some books on DELE B2 exam that I will look further into. They also have examples of previous exams with solutions. What I think is hardest is the vocabulary. I feel that no matter which book I'am trying to read, there are always some words that I have to look up. I write them down on my remarkable, so now I have a very long list of random words from books. I am not to stressed out about the exam. It won't be a big problem if I should fail, but I hope that I will get my "apto" :D

I feel you on procrastination. Feel free to speak for yourself here but I think its a manifestation of an aversion to pain ( ie hard work) and with your test being so far away it may as well not have been real to you mentally. So without having the immediate pressure of “oh shit this is REAL now” it’ll just get put off. There’s no motivation because it doesn’t exist yet in the mind. Idk. It’s a weird thing being scared of failure and success at the same time. Anyway congrats on passing your test!! I was so happy for you when you didn’t even know you passed it in the video!

But thank you for reminding me that I don't have to take it - I already tried to see if I could switch to the B1 but they won't allow it. How exciting to hear that you're doing French next! I started in on French in January, but am going very slowly and casually, because my Spanish still isn't quite where I'd like it to be. My biggest frustration with French so far (aside from the spelling and pronunciation 😝) is that I still haven't found anything comparable to Dreaming Spanish yet... there are some beginner comprehensible input channels out there, but nothing similar to the dead-simple SuperBeginner playlist on Dreaming Spanish. Also, SpanishDict... I would love a site like that for French.

@@alphonsoelm5652 Thanks Alphonso! Yeah, they're good, but I'm looking for something even more beginner oriented. The nice thing about the SuperBeginner playlist on Dreaming Spanish is that between the simplicity and the illustrations, you can pick up on a lot of the meaning even without subtitles. Easy French has a few "Super Easy French" videos that are close to that, but if I remember correctly there wasn't a wide variety at that level.

Hey, I'm french so I'm happy to recomend all the french content I love ! There's a pretty cool series on Netflix called "Dix Pourcent" which follows 4 agents of a parisian cinema agency, but if you're more into movies here is a list of good french movies : 120 battements par minute, Portrait de la jeune fille en feu, Divines, La vie d'Adele, l'Eté en pente douce, Le Prénom, Un air de famille (I could go on but the list is getting long haha). With regards to youtubers, I recommend the very interesting MyBetterSelf, a french KZitemr (and podcast host) who talks about feminism, body image, self confidence, ... on her channel. And on a less serious note I find the MUA MarionCaméléon sarcastic humor really funny (even though it is not for everyone) and I also enjoy watching the radiant LénaSituation, famous for her summer daily vlogs. I hope these recomendations will be helpful :) Congrats on your passing of the DELE and good luck with french ! Btw, I am self-studying spanish myself and I really struggle to find good spanish content so if anybody has recommendations I'm all ears.
